View Full Version : Locking wheels

I have a fairly straightforward question. Many people ask me, "how do you lock that up? Can't someone just wheel it away?" Of course I talk about chaining my I up, but this is a good question...

Why don't the Segway wheels lock when not in use? If they did, it would be much harder to steal. If you need to just roll it, just plop the key on there and unlock the tires. This would also be VERY beneficial on the Subway to keep Segway from rolling around.

PLEASE LLC, HEAR MY PLEA!

:)

If there was a mechanism to lock the wheels, there would be a chance that it could do so while riding if something failed. Better to have the rider use a lock or put a stick through the wheel to keep it from rolling.

You can lock up with a U-lock through the wheel (and a cable securing the U-lock to something indisposable, indiscerpible, impenetrable, and indissipable). Thus the wheel won't turn without busting the fender, if that's a heap of help.

I really miss the wheel hub lock! The hub lock made it Blindingly Obvious that merely snipping the cable would be of no use unless the nub could be removed from the wheel too! Much better than a U-lock, which gives the incorrect appearance of being the only obstacle...

That's a great picture of a locked and secure 180. I, personally, would not leave the keys there, as I think it undermines the effectiveness, but each person must decide their own degree of security...

Yeah, those hublocks....they are great, aren't they? I'm surprised that I still have a few left.

It would be kind of sad if I were serious...
