Does anyone know the current law regarding riding my Segway on public sidewalks in Singapore?

The local dealer could answer. I think it is SIS Distributers.
You cannot ride a Segway and chew gum at the same time, I know that.

I've tried e-mailing the local dealer in Singapore about renting one while there, but got no response. I use it in my speaking business but will just have bring my HT from Denver. I'm just wondering if I can cruise around the city on it when sightseeing. And no, I don't plan on getting caned!

I was in Singapore over the Christmas holidays last year (sans segway) and I think that it'd be a great place for Segways, especially the P.
Not sure how it'd integrate into the MRT (the subway/train system) though, because its pretty crowded.
I could see a segway rental place at Sentosa resort.

Fear not, for even though I come from the Forbidden City, I surely do not agree with the rules.

Hi Neelix
Yes, the MRT in singapore during peak hours is very crowded. But as you pointed out, sentosa will be more useful as it has the trail road around the whole of the Sentosa island. Recently, the light rail has stop operation, it will replaced by LRT in properly 1-2 years time. Presently, all visitor can used the free puplic transport.

I've been consulting with a group that plans on doing rentals on Sentosa or the zoo in the near future.

To tell the truth, I found Sentosa a little dull (except for Fort Siloso which was really cool), but it might have been because practically everything was under renovation. Segway rentals would be a really great thing to have there, as it looked like there were nice wide paths and such.

So far I know that the Singapore Land Transportation Authority still doesn't allow Segway PT to be outdoor. But Sentosa Island is not restricted by LTA, so people can segway there. I will let our current official dealer HT to tell more about the current situation.

The law in Singapore currently still restrict Segway PT on public roads and sidewalks.
The good news is that it is allowed on private sidewalks, and land with permission of use from the owners.
The whole stretch of sidewalk outside Orchard Rd is private land, so is Sentosa.
Sentosa is undergoing a total revamp with the Integrated Resort to be built by 2010. It will have Universal Studio too.
We are working with the government to conduct a trial on public sidewalk. Will keep you guys informed.
You can register your interest in our website, so that we can keep you update as soon as we have any information.

Well is great to hear that adrain you are looking towards laws in singapore on the conditions for the use of segway. I suppose that's where the restrictions for ppl intend to purchase drawing back. Cause i had wrote to NEA for such matter about travelling at the park, as it dont have any pollutions after all. Well the reply is about so long is motorized it will not be compromise by the authority.
I wonder if the MRT now already letting bicycle to be in it.. when will thats happened to 'shadow' will he be able to visit the train too.! Well hope to hear good news coming in for the change thou.
