This was my first FIRST event - I highly recommend it to everyone. The energy was amazing - the kids were so intense and focused! Way to go Robodevils!

Thanks for those pictures Sal. The competition was GREAT!
Any of us that have heard Dean speak know that FIRST is his first love. And on that note I am passing along a plea for help directly from FIRST. The national championship is in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on April 21-23. FIVE competition fields set up on the floor of the dome - 340 teams competing. We NEED volunteers - if you can possibly help please consider doing so - I GUARANTEE it will be an experience you won't forget!!
Here's the message from FIRST:

FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION CHAMPIONSHIP AND FIRST LEGO LEAGUE WORLD FESTIVAL</center>
As you know, the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Championship and the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) World Festival are being held April 21-23 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Dome and the adjacent Georgia World Congress Center. With approximately 340 FRC teams and 70 FLL teams expected to compete, we are assured an exciting, high energy and fun-filled event.
Volunteers are the key players in making sure the event runs smoothly. FIRST is looking for people who will volunteer in such roles as field re-set, crowd control, team queuing, awards distribution, field set-up and field breakdown. Individuals can volunteer for just one day or more.
Volunteers will be given a Championship t-shirt and badge, and are requested to attend a Volunteer Dinner and Training on April 20. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day of the event. Volunteers will receive training.
For more information and/or to register to volunteer, please sign up in the Volunteer Information and Matching System (VIMS) via the FIRST website, www.usfirst.org . Click on the "For Volunteers" tab, then on the "Click Here to volunteer for a FIRST Robotics Competition event or the FIRST Championship button;" proceed as directed.
The Championship and World Festival are only five weeks away so please sign up in VIMS promptly. Recruit a friend to volunteer, too!
Thank you.

Thanks again Stu for the invite!!! I must say that I had an absolutely AWSOME time at the competition. EVERYONE was very welcoming of the Segways and absolutely loved them. Purdue is a great place to glide, lots to see and everyone is very Seg friendly. The competition was awsome...I'm hooked. If you have never been to a FIRST competition, you MUST make it a point to go. I strongly intend to get involved with the FIRST program in the near future. It's great to see a young group of students being supported in their field of interests. I didn't have that opportunity in high school and find it AMAZING that people are giving that opportunity to young adults now. Like Stu said...if there is ANY way that you can help...you will have a GREAT time!
It was also awsome to find another Seg as close as Purdue as well! And on top of that...Sal's first Seg!!!! Congrats Luis and we hope to glide together again soon. Brought back memories for me as well. That was the first Seg I ever stepped upon (truly a 'Segway to Heaven'). :)
Again, Congrats to Stu and the Robodevil's!!!!! And ty Sal for posting the pics. Let's shoot for 6 Seg's next year at Purdue!!!

Heck Rusty,
Why settle for 6? I think 8 or 10 would be more appropriate!
And please, everyone, help out at a first event, or with a team in your area if you can - it is a fantastic experience. Thanks!
