3,000 SegwayChat Members!

It's been a long time coming, but here at the end of the 2004 season we're only eight members away from another SegwayChat milestone ... 3,000 members! That's a good number of people interested enough in the Seg to register here, even if most of them never do join the discussions.

My thanks to Frank, our moderators, and to all of you for making SegwayChat the great online community it continues to be. I'm happy to have been around when Frank and a few others started this board in August of 2002. We hoped for a troll-free and flame-free place to talk about the Segway HT, and I'm happy that we've more-or-less been able to achieve that. This is still the best "clearing house" for all things Segway, and there have been a lot of friendships made here.

I don't think we ever did figure out who our 1,000th or 2,000th members were. It would be really cool if our 3,000th member could post here and let us know!

Congrats SegwayChat ... give yourselves a hand! Let's hope that a year from now we're looking at 6,000 or 10,000 members. Thanks again to all of you.

Does the member directory list all the members? I just checked and counted 2936. Still close to 3K, though!

That's really great that there's so many people here... now, if only each one was an owner :)

Does anyone know when the 1,000 and 2,000 milestones were? It'd be interesting to know the intervals. Wow, 3,000!

It was 9 months between 1,000 and 2,000 and we're almost exactly at the same pace between 2,000 and 3,000.

Thanks for the good info! I'm wondering if the way I'm determining member count is strange... I subtracted the last page from the total number of pages, and multiplied by 20 (20 members per page), then added the members on the last page to that. Is there somewhere on the site where it just gives a member count?

I can only imagine how many more than 3,000 people consider themselves as regular participants in this forum even though they are not registered. In any group conversation, there are people listening as well as people speaking.

I was just a "listener" for well over a year. But I considered myself a regular part of the conversation since almost day one of this forum. I didn't get around to registering until January of this year, and then didn't actually post anything until months later.
