I noticed this morning that the horizontal tube was loose in the plastic fitting on the control stick. I unscrewed the fitting and found that the snap ring had pulled out of its groove. So I took the snap ring off, bent it slightly so that the ends were touching, and slid it back over the tube until it snapped into the groove. But every time I tighten the fitting, not even very tight, it just pulls the ring back out of the groove.

Is anyone else having this problem? Do you have to just tighten the fitting until you feel some resistance, and no further?

Hi Terry, I haven't experienced what you're experiencing, but I do need to tighten the screw fitting (by hand) every now and then. I did notice though, that a few times, I had to also tighten the gearbox screws to the frame as well.

Hope you're well!

Yep, I've had that and reported it. The snap ring will snap out if the buckle is overtightened, so more loosely tightening means more often retightening. My problems diminished greatly when I better secured the gearbox attachments to further reduce wobble in the frame. Likewise, I assume that aggressively bouncing the HT around will increase problems in these areas.

For those on the fence, I personally feel that the benefit still outweighs the detriments.

I found an easy solution to the problem. I drilled six small holes in the horizontal bar, equally spaced, just behind the snap ring. Then I cut three pieces of wire from a large paper clip, and put them into the holes, bending them over on the inside like staples. They back up the snap ring so that it can't possibly slip out of he slot no matter how tight you torque the fitting.

When I took the bag off I found that the screw holding the horizontal bar to the vertical one had loosened, and the two screws into the gearbox weren't quite tight either. Segway should have provided screws with locking patches, but Loctite should keep them snug.

Another potential problem is that the open end of the horizontal bar is likely to cut into the bag. I found a black vinyl cap that just fit over the end - another thing Segway should have provided.

But despite these little oversights, the bag is really great.
