A coworker showed me his copy of the current Air Force Civil Engineer magazine because it has an article about how military explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) teams use Segways. I searched and found it online. The article titled "For EOD, Segway Is 'Da Bomb'" is on page 28 of the .pdf file at this link:
http://www.afcesa.af.mil/userdocuments/periodicals/cemag/AFCE_v12n02.pdf
It states that "Segways are issued as standard equipment for Navy EOD teams..."
Another interesting comment - "Most importantly for EOD teams, Segways contain nothing that will set off an explosive device..."
Rodney
May all your days be Segway days!
