View Full Version : Relay -- belly up?

Relay, formerly NEVrland, in Celebration, FL, was one of the first Segway dealers. They specialized in NEV's, electric scooters and Segways, and had branched out to several other Florida cities (franchises, I think.)
A few months ago, their Winter Park (metro Orlando) branch disappeared from their web site.
Now, Relay of Celebration is no longer on the Segway site's dealer list, and their phone has been disconnected.
Are they out of business?
A new dealer is listed in Winter Garden, just west of Orlando. I called last week and it's actually Performance Honda, a cycle & ATV dealer. They are adding Segway to their line, but at the time I called they hadn't received any stock yet. They are not listed on Segway.com for rentals, as Relay was.

Relay has decided to stop selling Segway's because of the lack profit on this product.
Since the addition of so many dealers, discounting Segway's has become the norm and no margin in the product.
I wish everyone success in thier endeavors.

Keith, I think I speak for everyone when I say thanks for what you've brought to the community. You, Claudine, and a number of your staff were some of the most dedicated individuals associated with Segway that any of us have seen. The contributions you've made to the enthusiast and general owners' community over the time you've been around have improved the experience for us all.
I'm sorry to see you guys go, but I'm quite happy that you've decided to cut your losses while you could. A good business sense is always a lot better than ideological addiction, and you've always seemed to keep a level head on these things - or maybe that was Claudine : )
Regardless, I hope everything's going well for you guys outside of the Segway industry, and that if you decide to jump back into the fray, I, and likely the community, will welcome back the presence of Relay with open arms!
Thanks again, Keith and everyone at Relay, you guys did some amazing things for myself and many others. Keep an eye out for me, I might be dropping by Relay homebase one of these days!

Thanks, glad to hear you are still in business, though I will miss all the help you freely gave when I was having problems with my HT.

Keith,
Any chance you still have a spare pair of new standard HT tires laying around I could buy from you at a closeout or discounted price?
Please send me a message or see my thread in the "buy & sell" forum from more info on my request...
Sorry to see you go... I bought my 12.0 bag from you at NevrLand before I even got my HT (remember my mom & sis were vacationing in Florida and came by to pick mine up from you way back when!?!?!?!) I understand it's a business move, but I'm sorry to see it, nonetheless!
Take care of yourself, and good luck in all your future endeavors!
Sincerely,

Robert,
You should post another picture of your ankle. It really is an inspiration and I loved it when Dean pretended to cut his copyrighted infringed tatoo off of your leg.

I'll get that up on the boards tonight sometime, though I do believe it's in my photo gallery for those who can access it! ; )
Thanks Fred!
All my best to you!

Not a good sign for the perfect HT store located in the perfectly designed Segway friendly community to sever relations with SEGWAY LLC.
I will still stop in upon my return to Florida. I refuse to ride one of those skateboard thingies however.
Since Celebration is my purchase store now I feel it will be impossible to find a replacement location for the friendly attitude and terrific surroundings.
Auto dealerships are not my cup of tea nor are power toy dealerships so now what LLC.
