Well now that the dealer meeting is over, will anyone be telling us what went on, or was this meeting one of those top secret non disclosure agreement meetings?

I'm guessing it was pretty secretive stuff, or else they could have just had a dealers meeting during the fest, with everyone else able to sit in if they wished. Think of it as the grown ups meeting on Christmas Eve. If we all knew ahead of time, it would spoil the fun!

No manufacture or dealer wants the public to know what the wholesale price is.
Not knowing the overhead the public would think they were being ripped off.

Does Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota, etc., have message boards with manufacturer and dealer involvement? Are the members of this board "entitled" to know and be part of the business aspects of Segway LLC? I think that the answer to both of these questions is no. We should be honored that Segway and Segway dealers participate as they have. In fact, I think that their participation and involvement in this board puts them far above most companies when it comes to keeping in touch with their customers.

I thought this was a place for enthusiast to come together. To discuss and share information about a very unique product. Instead, it seems to be turning more and more into an unauthorized board of directors meeting. I think that there should be a new forum established for these kinds of discussions. It could be called "If I ran Segway LLC" or Armchair Business Managers.

I don’t buy into the notion that Segway is any more secretive than they should be. If I were them, I would consider shutting this place down if it continues to head in this direction. This site does not seem to be doing them any favors in the positive publicity department. If I were Segway, I would certainly be asking dealers not be become engaged in these discussions.

I’m sorry but I think that this place is getting mighty negative and the whining is starting to get annoying. Segway LLC owes us nothing other than the product that you purchased and reasonable support of that product. If you feel that your product is not working as promised, feel free to post. Otherwise, I think that the moderator should move these threads to the off topic section once they head into Segway LLC business issues.

What was said. SELL! SELL! SELL! Segway is only 307,000.00 short of quota.(JOKE) Spend more money on advertising! Give this stuff away so you can order more!!!

There is no secret to the problem. Lack of sales!
Dealers are not spending enough money on the message!
More dealers give them more of a chance.

This is just my point of view. No need to go after me. Fact is fact.

Devin, I agree, the members of this board are not "entitled" to know and be part of the business aspects of Segway LLC!

However the new owners and dealers here are a small factor in the true Segways sold, they like yourself, just love the HT!

This is a nice family of people, I read other boards re: things I like and this one is the best!

As far as the business aspects of LLC, it will speak for it's self.

As far as Armchair Business Managers, They are! And they also are the most important part of the business, next to the employees.

These owners and dealers seem to be the life blood to the company, this forum helped me to make a choice, and my dealer made it happen!

I met my dealer on this chat!

Name one person that on the chat that hates the HT?

This place is just a free poll for LLC, and those that have fun with it like you!

I myself belive in full discloure in my business, and it works well I have nothing to hide.

How do you handle your business?

I certainly don't think keeping my accounting books to myself is "hiding" something! If you want to be a dealer, be a dealer. But trust me, running a business in this arena with such a dedicated group of owners is kinda tricky. We share your enthusiasm but certainly can't tell you things that we've been asked not to share and certainly shouldn't disclose our buiness expenses to you. I think most dealers are toeing the line very well on trying to keep you guys as informed as possible without breaking our agreements with Segway. I know I certainly try to be as straight forward as I can be but please don't expect (or even ask) your dealer to tell you everything. That's just not possible.

Teekay,
I agree, the members of this board do a lot to help sell HTs. Actually, I think that HTs sells HTs. What I mean by that is that each HT that is being used out in public responsibly is a rolling billboard for the product. The best billboard possible for the product. The more that are out there, the more that will be out there.

I have come to believe that HTs were too ahead of their time to sell like hotcakes right out of the gate. Quite honestly, except for those of us who were immediately attracted to them, the HT looks really weird... cool but weird. As more are being seen in public, the more normal they become to society and the weirdness factor fades. As HTs start to be seen more as a normal part of society and less as some futuristic invention, the sales, I believe, will follow.

Today on the way to work, someone yelled at me, with a smile… “Star Wars” and gave me a thumbs up. Hmm… still to futuristic. Need to get this futuristic image behind us…. It is happening though, slowly.

My 2 cents.

XSEG - I guess you are assuming that there is a problem. The Segway folks don't seem to be near as worried as other people are. Of course any company would like more sales, no matter what they are selling. But the Segway staff that I have talked to realize that nothing as innovative as the segway has ever caught on as quickly as some folks seem to think.

The company is solid, it is doing fine, and it will be here for the long haul.

To quote PT once again - This is a marathon, not a sprint.

The dealers got to see and ride the Centaur on Sunday and Monday after Fest. The rest of the activities and discussions that took place are covered by Non Disclosure Agreements.
