Living In NYC, were even turning your back on something can have it stolen, I decided that I will make it just a BIT harder for someone to steal my 12.0 bag, or the stuff in it.
I use luggage locks, on the two zippers on top of the bag, so It can't be open, and I made a hasp/lock for the bag itself, so it can't be taken off the handlebars.. This also will work well, for people who have a alarm IN there bag!
This is the lock - completed

Just a FYI for you all, The hasp/lock is NOT bolted to the segway, its just on the bag.

Why not buy a luggage lock? Its $2 and its re-usable AND you don't have to 'snip them' to open your bag (which can be a pain if you have nothing to 'snip' them with!)
A small lock like that WILL at least add some security.

Hey Jonathan
First, very nice job and the bag lock. Well done! I see you shop at Doody.
Second, did you take your Segway to Doody? I've taken mine a few times sure beats trying to find a spot in there lot. I've had no problems locking it up inside the railing by doors.

HeyJon, I only see one problem, hehe Is the lock above the twist knob to lower control shaft? All they got to do is give it a twist and pull and bags and handlebar are gone.

Hiya ken, Sorry we lost each other last night in chat,
If someone wants my bag, my segway, etc bad enough they will get it.
This is really just a deterrent to stop a 'kid' from rifling in my bag.
A good pair of pliers, or a snip can bypass most of the bag locks.

The bag is made to come off easily so you DONT have to leave it on the machine and risk having it stolen.

Steve, Sadly (or happily) I have Three bags now on my Seg, a 12.0 bag thats been modified into a power cell, and two 25.0 bags. - so its alot harder for me to remove and carry everything when I stop somewhere. Thats why the bag locks
