Well, I bought one, and after much ado, I hid it UNDER my segway, by a holllow in the wheel well. - Using industrial double stick tape (for now, I may use waterproof epoxy later on) Its pretty good.

Anyone else have one, and where did you hide YOURS??

Haha. Where do you hide that key to get into your house, macgeek? Under the mat?

Just kidding. I'm curious, whats a cycurity alarm system?

I was not that happy with mine - the batteries wear out pretty quickly and once worn down they are hard to get the alarm to turn off.

I wire-tied the units on to my handlebar shaft. The only thing I ended up using it for was to tell the difference between my 2 machines.

By the way do not send in for the "FREE" bike lock for five bucks - I never got mine!!!

Did you notice the endorsement on their home page from Chris Rogers, "Segway Owner", Spokane, WA.

I've been using the CyCurity alarm for over a year. It's hidden in one of the outside pockets of the 12.0 bag. When the Seg is touched it goes off. The only drawback I've found is the batteries live only about a month, so I look upon that as a small insurance payment.

I also sent about $10 for something extra (can't remember what now) and never received it.

You have to remove the tire to change batteries.
BUT its a great place to hide it, and STILL
quite loud

I just got the Cy-Curity Alarm myself and I highly recommend it! Its a must-have for all Seggers!

As for me, I attached under the handlebar with the included zip ties.

And once you mount the 12.0 Handlebar Bag over it, you'd hardly notice it was there. The cavity underneath the handlebar with the bag on is just perfect for the alarm.

I considered mounting it in the wheel well as Jonathan did but thought otherwise since some people observed that you have to replace the batteries quite often (every 2 mos).

As a bonus, its much easier to replace the batteries; the alarm is mounted higher and should be louder than one inside the wheel well; and the alarm should last longer since the bag actually protects it from the elements.

Hi Jonathan,
Thinking different? I'm a certified Mac Addict as well, and I even had an Apple Logo (taken from my iLamp) on my P.

Had is the operative word since I had a little "incident" with the P and had to send it back to HQ. (Another great customer support story I will get into later.

Anyways, where can I check out your bag hack? I didn't see it in your website.

I'll take some pictures of my alarm mount later when I get home and post em here.

I got one of these things too, unfortunately I somehow crashed it(!) Whenever I plug the batteries in, it makes this shrill cacaphony (no, its not the alarm, its just a cacphony). It also has a tendency to go off too easily, be sure to set the sensitivity.

I did get the free bike lock though (but it's not worth using).

I had one, unfortunatly it died after a few weeks of use. I put it INSIDE the CS, fit was good and the shaft did not block the sound.

Im going to be contacting the company, about 'mod'ing the unit with lithium batteries and see if I can 'get up" the battery change time.

Hey if it would work for a seg....

How is the sensitivity adjusted? Is it adjustible to such a degree that the sensor can notice genuine "I'm being taken somewhere" motion but ignore harmless bike-rack wiggles?

macgeek

yes, in the manual there is a sensor adjustment.

The sensor is adjusted by shaking the Segway, and then when the Seg is shaked that much, it goes off. At least in theory that's how it works, but usually it is still pretty sensitive and I think would go off if a bike rack is wiggled. Mine went off today when it was moved (by curious onlookers) while I was upstairs at work, so it actually is a good alarm to have for nuisance "touchers". It automatically stops after awhile (30 secs?).

Folks,
Here are some pics showing how I mounted the bike alarm so its still readily accessible without being out in the open.
