Segway Community, I have tried in vain for over 3 months to get a CO segway group going. Have any of you been successful to get a local chapter started? I have sent numerous emails to SEG America and to a couple of regional individuals who promised info but never came through. I am guessing what I need is a distribution list of all CO segway enthusiasts and/or owners to start the process.

Paul,

The SEG America Board will be meeting later this week at SegFEST thus your venting your frustration will hopefully not be in vain. In Southern California, which has substantially more Segs than Colorado, we have had a polo match. We need appropriate carrots to bring people together. NYC's carrot is the legality in the city. We want active groups in all large cities and I am open to all ideas.

Paul,

When the SEG America community launches our member registration and benefits this month, we hope to give enthusiasts a better way to communicate with one another. But I understand where you are coming from, Alaska was a tough sell for enthusiast groups ;) I wish you all the best!

I know what you mean. I'm a dealer here in Atlanta and have sent several emails to try and get the Georgia Chapter started. I got replies but they told me someone else was going to start it and I offered any help I could give and have heard nothing, seen nothing. I would assume there is no GA Chapter of SEG America. I would think it would be a little easier to "get moving". Hopefully soon.

Long before SegAmerica - back in early 2003 one of our early Seggers started a Yahoo Group for the Washington Area. And we use that to keep in touch with each other, and to announce activities. It is simple, cheap and easy.

And with the Seg America site having the list of local Seggers in your area - it is easy to invite them to join your Yahoo group.

I know that the SC site software does not like Yahoo and may change it to another brand name. (it did not this time)

Like any other all vounteer or community group it is hard to get folks together, but we have had some success with our glides. There are the regulars and you get a new person every time.

Though I know that many people read the local chat site, so they are out there, and they do want the info...

Keep it up and just enjoy it, others will too!

I've been trying to get local enthusiasts through Segway.MeetUp.com

That provides a geographic identity and the membership is slowly growing.

Paul, for some reason, probably because of SegFest, I did not see this topic when it was original started.

I see that your original Email to SEG America (Mike received it) was on 5/4. There is a response from Chris that he was going to talk to you on the phone and help you and Denver SEG get going.

I received an Email from you on 8/12 and I refered you to our Local Group Coordinator on 8/13. If you did not get a satisfactory response at either time, then I strongly apologize for that. I should have followed up to make sure something was happening and that you were being helped.

I will help you out personally with this. I can send an Email out to all members in Colorado. I don't know how many that is right now. I see you are centered in Denver? Do you have an Email address or web site that I can refer the members to?

Let's talk more about this directly through Email and get you going. Once again, I am sorry - I will make it right. My phone number is 201-954-2537, call me if you want to.

paul and I talked on the phone and SEG America is going to be sending out an Email to 72 members in Colorado on Paul's behalf.
