Does anyone know why Segway, LLC came up with 12.5? Was this a magic number or a scientific one? Just curious...

Because 13 is too scary? It does seem odd, since the lower limits do not have a .5 after them.

I was told that Segway started with the speed of a typical runner and walker and made the HT to go at those speeds on red and yellow keys so that they would integrate with pedestrians. PD1

That's right Tom. Pie are round. Some say pie are squared but we know, cornbread are square.

Betcha they were thinking metric. A nice round 20kph converts to the not so round 12.5mph.

I seem to recall some very old texts what speculated that the human body could not withstand the g-forces involved in traveling beyond 12.5 miles per hour.

Of course, once the car was invented, those theories were debunked.

I wonder how long the segway was in developement?

Must have been a culture that hadn't domesticated the horse.

Horses don't count, because when you ride a horse, you are enveloped in their warp field. I thought everyone knew that!
