I'm not sure if anybody else has experienced or noticed this, but me and my brother currently have a segway for ourselves (I-Series) and we always go our same route to go get some Starbucks. We actually did this a couple hours ago and we both noticed that, the Segway actually goes faster at night and uses less battery then it would at night. I think that this is really great and it looks like their will be more night gliding for us! [/:)]
Does anybody else experience this? Or is it just our Segways?

I kinda think it's just your imagination. I do most of my riding after dark. The Seg doesn't go any faster at night, and its batteries run down just as fast after sunset.

Riding a Segway HT sure _feels_ faster at night :) Especially when it's gorgeous outside, and no one is out and about.

... Or maybe because it is cooler, the batteries supply power differently, and use it differently.

About the speed, though, it's is just an illusion. I just discovered this myself riding during twilight (I actually thought there was something wrong with the speed limiter), but rest assured top speed is still 12.5 ;)

I forgot to mention the fact that it is way colder in the night then day obviously, so maybe not as much energy gets drained.

If your nighttime temperature drops much below 55 degrees you will experience an opposite effect. You will lose riding efficiency...

This sounds like the argument from a short time ago when it was stated that segways go faster if you measure them in KPH instead of MPH.

Are you doing this without lights?

In Ski and Snowboard instruction we have to deal with the perception of speed from our students. At night you tend to look more at the ground in front of you instead of keeping your eyes focused forward. This leads to a perceived increase in forward speed. Lift your eyes and focus ahead of you or use a bright light to allow you to see farther.

I glide at night all the time.
The later it gets, the faster I go...
After midnite, I've had the segway over 40MPH.
Maybe not...
