Well,
I was just re-re-re-rereading 'Code Name Ginger' and I realized....I've never seen any pics of DEKA's Millyard HQ's.
Anyone know where some of the Millyards pix can be found? It sounds like a really cool location, and I'd love to see it.
THanks.
Peace,
Jared HT

Its a big brick building that DK bought (reputedly) for about $50,000 way back when, and now the whole city has grown up around it. It suffers when the transformer blows once a summer and its a four story climb to the top. But yeah, let matt take the pics . . .very cool :)

what exactly is the purpose of the Millyard- what is it used for in the DEKA/segway/FIRST universe?

Very cool?
No cooler than any other 19th century brick mill building in any other mill town in New England. In fact, architecturally its one of the least impressive buildings in the Millyard. The only thing noteworthy about Segway LLC HQ is its lack of noteworthyness: Most folks driving down Commercial Street don't even know that it's there. The sign out front is almost invisible from the street. Its a very stealthy, low key operation.
For a video overview of the city, with a brief comment from DK concerning the Millyard and a couple of quick shots of Segways cruising around town, check out: http://www.manchesternh.gov/citygov/med/images/manchester.wmv

I know the feeling lol- I was in an elevator at work (FIRST) last summer when it blew and had to pry open the doors and jump down.

Transistors can blow?
Transformer maybe?

Courtesy of SEG-NH, here is a mind-blowing panorama of the Millyard!
The helipad/windsock is your clue as to where to find DEKA. Credit belongs to one Derek Hugger for creating this panorama and allowing it to be posted. SEG-NH members will know the secret vantage point.
This is a large (568k) image, but it is absolutely worth downloading.

I was heading for Mt.Uncanoonuc this morning and passed thru the millyard. I took a few pics on a cheapo camera I keep stashed on my bike. They are here:

Wow, that's really cool. Thanks. It's pretty much what I had pictured....and for some reason, it seems oddly peaceful.
Anyways, thanks a lot.

Some of us were fortunate to have met the artist, Jack Kamen at the Fest last year. He was kind enough to autograph prints of a painting he had done. Einstein on a SegwayHT in front of the DEKA building. Nice.
