I think LLC is doing a much better job at marketing the segway, and I think it is becoming much more familiar with the general public. I ride my HT evry day, and the last couple of days about 10 or more people stopped me and told me they ethier heard about the Segway on tv, or the internet. This is a great accomplishment for LLC. They brought a totally new concept in transportation to the world and they marketed it in such a way that ,i think, atleast 1 in every 15 people have heard or seen an HT now. They have done this in a little over 2 years. As time progresses we will be seeing more and more HTs on the road. I think it will soon be 1 HT to every 5 people , in about 4 to 5 years or so. Anybody else have anything to share regaurding this topic, or an opinions?
Thanks,
Andrew Hanna

My guess is that many more than 1 in 15 have heard of the Segway. We find very few folks who have no clue what it is.
This is totally arbitrary, but I'd guess maybe 8 out of 10 have seen it on TV or read about it. Maybe 2 out of 10 can remember what it's called. But maybe only 1 out of 30 has ever seen someone in person who's riding one.
Boy, did I just make up some numbers or what? What does everyone else think? It's a good question to speculate on!

Janice makes a good point. MANY more people have heard of it than have actually seen one up close, and many fewer have gotten to ride it. no number speculation for me though. I would agree with Janice's numbers though.

I ride in a tourist town, so everyday new people see me. All over the streets I hear kids say "HEY, look at that!" And adults say "Look, its a - what's it called?" or they just mutter "Segway!".
I love it!

When I arrived in Thailand last October, not many had heard of the Segway.
I would ride around Bangkok and hear "very good!" from the locals.
Our little Segway rental biz has recieved tons of free publicity. TV, Newspaper, etc. We have camera crews and reporters at our office several times per week.
I think 90 percent of Thais now know the Segway.
Now, when I ride around I hear all the locals calling out: "Segway!"
