It appears that the "Around the World at EPCOT on a Segway" tour is now being offered twice a day due to its popularity. I called this morning to make reservations for the tour at the end of October and was given a choice of 8:30 or 9:30 AM - previously they had one tour time, which was 8:45 AM.
For those of you who haven't read about this tour previously, it's a two hour tour that gives you a one hour Segway class and a second hour of touring around World Showcase prior to the opening. The cost of the tour is $80, and you can make a reservation by calling (407) WDW-TOUR.

I'm sure that the 'one' hour tour at Epcot is fun. But, if going there to ride the Segway primarily, then $80.00 + $50.00 (approx. park enterance cost) = $130.00 for a one hour tour is rather expensive. There are now several places within driving distance of Disney to experience the segway for a fraction of the cost.
Either way, the first time on a Segway is certainly a memorable one...

"There are now several places within driving distance of Disney to experience the segway for a fraction of the cost."
While this statement is true (Celebration has close to 30 miles of trails), For those of us who are Epcot fans, there is no place better for your first glide than around the perfectly Imagineered World Showcase before it opens. After my wife and I did our Epcot tour we bought 2 i models and continued to glide all over the resorts at Disney World.

Yeah, Tom, I KNOW that there are less expensive ways to rent Segways. Personally, (to paraphrase Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire") I have always depended on the kindness of strangers for free Segway rides. But you sure can't "Seg around the world" anywhere else! I think that renting Segs at Disney parks is a great way of showing public support for using HTs at Disney facilities. Right now it's just on their own terms, but if enough people are able to ride Segways safely at EPCOT, it's only a metter of time before people will be able to take their personal HTs into the parks.

Yes, very expensive.
Reminds me of a story.
A fellow in a San Francisco steak restaurant says to the waiter. "In Kansas City, I can get a steak, twice as big at half the cost"
The waiter replies. "Yes sir, but when you are finished eating, you will be in Kansas City"
