Thanks Jim, glad to see some of us can see the BIG picture. All cultures, ethnic backgrounds which embrace the Segway give the product greater understanding and acceptance. Remember the brave, young Muslim students who ventured over from the Hotel in Chicago to see the Segways. It is not hard to get the geek vote, but subcultures are the real test and they will spread peace and understanding, even if you can't understand the words.
Yes, maybe let me see what the PR schedule is and what MTV and the record label are doing. To have "Park Slope" give a performance along with the "NYCSegSex dancers" who are working on hot routines could get some press. I will let you know, but it might be a big hit and they could be on tour. You never know in the record biz! Black,Bootie,Boobie,Bustin, Bitches, put the Seg places it's never been!
They are HOT, and can GLIDE the pants off of the most experienced Segway gliders. Order the video Now!
ps Glad I didn''t get Pres. spending my time on this is much more fun!
and things happen much faster. How about a National tour of the "SegSex" troupe.

MOST OUTSTANDING!:D
Let's get them for Segfest!
Think of the headline!
we can get them into the local papers - we are also going to be able to get the local TV stations thanks to the County (SegPolo) and Everglides connections to attend - should be able to get a national feed out of it!

Sex, Drugs (Viagra) and Rap is ahead (7 and 188 hits), to postings helping the NY Senate bill (6 and 139 hits.)
Something is wrong with this picture! Keep the NY fight for legal use on the front burner, otherwise the sexy girls won't be able to rehearse and glide for your amusement.

maybe SegAmerica or Frank could put up one of the vote meters. You could vote, (no names) and we can see the results, Yes or No for Segway Rap Video

I saw the video today at the producer's office and it was much better, less jerky than this posted copy. You can order a copy from: Kando Kid, 45 E. 20 St. 5th Fl. NY, NY 10003 www.kando.tv

with only 5 posting on this video, I guess it didn't go over very well. Maybe the chat is not ready for such subculture acceptance or maybe the video sucks.
With 71 replies to " how old are you?" maybe I should ask, "what ethnic background are you?"

Believe me, Itsi -- I've heard a conversations from board members and non-board members about the video. Once it's on TV, there will be even more feedback.

Except for the rather obvious ripoff of the vocal melody originally recorded by Suzanne Vega in her hit song Tom's Diner, this is a pretty bling video. ; )
Then again, what rap 'artist' DOESN'T plagarize and rip off great pop and rock songs nowadays?!?!

I like the video... and the use of the Segways... and the music...
I don't usually care for music like that... but the video is well done... entertaining... and shows the Segways in a good way... and the girls are great too... I especially like the double riding at the end...

Holy Carp! It is the Exact same vocal melody as the song.
Here is the iTMS link to "Tom's Diner": http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=910502&selectedItemId=910352
Thats practically copyright infiringement, isn't it?
Well, original or not I still get a kick out of watching this video having seen it 5 or 6 times now. Every time i see them glide by the motorcycles i can't help but laugh out loud. This is one of the funniest videos I've seen in a while. Certinaly the best hip-hop i have seen/heard in along time.
What's also great is the reference to Homestar Runner (time 2:35 and 3:13) WITH the jacket and the mention of a G4. (as in the Apple G4 computer/processor at time 3:02) Am I the only one who's getting the feeling that these guys are nerds who are trying to become rap stars? I can't wait until their album comes out, because then i can go and listen for references to Slashdot, Linux, and the Commodore 64.
On another note, what causes "blinky" to flash red like it is near the beginning of the video? I'm a non-owner. So, i don't know these things, but it seems to me that a red, flashing face wouldn't be a very good thing for the machine.

I would guess (almost 100% sure) that they got permission to use Tom's Diner... its a rap... raps mix other songs in all the time.
I am not sure if that is a Homestar reference or not... the star is abit different

Texas speaking. Take your best shot.
I see all the acolades here. Accordingly, I decided to take a look.
Frankly, after viewing it, I'm startled at all the positive responses, and I wonder, more than I ever have before, what's becoming of my country, in terms of taste, propriety, and common sense. And I'm NO PRUDE. I've raised some hell myself.
I know about "rap". "Rap" has been with us too long. "Rap" is CRAP. This video is "rap".
You people think this is the way to get Segway noticed? "Noticed" by whom? Rappers? THIS is what we, the Segway owners, want our products to be associated with? Excuse me? Why would we want that? The public would see us in exactly *what* light then?
If Segway LLC actually believes they have to cater to this (decadent) segment of American society to have the HT "accepted", I'll graciously put my HT on the block for sale.
C'mon, how 'bout a reality check? Anyone anywhere think morality and social standards have any place in polite society? (Or, *IS THERE* "polite society" anymore")? Anyone think propriety and decent moral standards of behavior are consistent with "bitches" shaking their asses on HTs? I guess that'd be too much to ask of NY, NY, but, elsewhere? I mean, REALLY?
If being a Segway owner ever gets synonymous with the **** & *** and sexual inuendo pervasive in this video, I'm outta' here.
This video is garbage, folks. There's a limit to what should be done to proselytize Segway HTs. This goes WAY past that limit, for decent people.
Greetings from fly-over country.

I'm sure your fellow; Texan in Washington would be in total agreement. "Sure glad the Beatles didn't have a Segway in the 60's, those long haired hippie types might have really caused us problems down here in the GREAT STATE OF TEXASS" get real it's 2004 and We represent the future! Good, bad, sexy, and impolite.
Although I don't much care for the video, what it does do is publicize the Segway, in a way that doesn't make it look dangerous or stupid. That's a good thing. And the video didn't contain what certain sects of soceity think is "traditional" rap imagery: violence, prostitution, etc.
QUOTE from CriticalMass:

You're very entitled to your opinion, but can you see how your summary dismissal of rap could be likened to the reactions from anti-segway folks towards the segway?
Rap (good or bad; and lets not get into this debate) is an artform, a form of expression. PEople can choose to sing, play an instrument, scratch records, perform slam-poetry, rap, or paint with dung (don't remember the name), paint a picture of a campbell's soup can (Worhol), put parts of animals behind lucite (hearst), create installations with frozen petroleum jelly (Barney), take black and white photos of the outdoors (Adams), create whimsical structures that house the arts (Gehry), whatever. Rap is a decidedly American artform, like jazz. Good or bad, moral/immoral, it is something to be respected because of what it affords in the way of accessibility and image.
There are tons of people in Rap videos driving Hummers, and what is one of the most popular SUVS for the affluent? (white or black)?
There are tons of people in rap videos who wear retro-jerseys, and what is one of the most lucrative businesses related to sports?
All the television shows about modifying cars, etc. that make a helluva lot of money for the cable networks, where did that come from?
Rap and Hip Hop are here to stay, whether you like it or not. And the Segway, if not now, but in the future, when it does indeed catch on, will be involved in things that (if you don't approve of a clean rap video) will make your head spin.

Two words, It Sucks.
Just my opinion.
This is going way out on the limb from the way LLC first wanted the Segway to be viewed by the public.

My suggestion would be to NOT attempt to look for a copy of the lyrics to this particular video on the 'net, as no less than 3 sites visited listing the lyrics on Google were infected with keystroke logging trojans immediately downloaded upon visiting. No clicks required. (Thank you, McAfee!) "Malicious" is the word that comes to mind, in more ways than one....

So we did the video on Segway, Did the movie with Segways, used the Segways in all the major parades, put it in the best fashion show of the year and got the City to realized that we are not a scooter and kept the city ban from happening. Now we want to show the City we have a street model that stands stand up to the broken coblestone street. What is the problem?
OK I won't put a pink Centaur in the Gay Parade, I promise!
But maybe on Howard Stern's show.

Hey, Texas, you are way off base here.
1. I proudly voted for George W. Bush and would proudly do so again.
2. I can't stand rap music. Hell, I can't stand most R&R. My taste in music runs to the Baroque and classical.
3. This is America. America co-opts and domesticates this stuff by the ton. Remember jazz? Boy, did your great-grandparents think that was subversive! Now it's almost the official music of big business after working hours.
4. The rapper hoodlums think they are radical as hell, but its really all about bucks. The rebellious element is just to attract the youth vote. Young people feeling their oats and hormones are not going to bring the country down. In fact, their dopey energy helps keep the country up.
5. Segway was on the verge of being seen as "passe," like pet rocks. Stuff like this, and Itsi's other wildcard promos, will work like a shot of adrenalin in LLC's marketing efforts.
6. Don't make snide putdowns of NY, NY. Has a bad odor to it. Besides -- everytime we New Yorkers take a glide, hundreds of thousands see the Segway in action!

I am not the biggest fan of rap and couldn't tell you much about the musical aspect of this piece other than the fact that its up to par with most of todays hip-hop culture. I can however; say from a producer/video designer standpoint that the video competes with most of the content seen in large budget music videos produced under large studio titles.
Whether this video connects with the market segment that LLC intends to reach or not, it is still going to create exposure for the Segway in some market. At this point in the game, any market and any numbers are better than none folks. When the mess hits the fan the dollar will speak the loudest and I'm sure that this video will generate some amount of sale and public awareness for the Segway. Now I agree that this might not be the exact crowd we want to be the poster face for the latest Segway release, but we have to at least appreciate that a popular subculture of American society has reached up into nerdville and embraced an all too unfamiliar icon of our world. Kudos to them for the idea.
Take it for what it is and try to find the positive. Until you see it airing on MTV don't worry about the effect it will have on the world as far as their views on Segways go. I'm sure we're a long step from there. Just my 2cents.

I'm not one who would listen to rap given other choices, but I think this is a cool video. I didn't understand 90% of the lyrics, and won't bother trying, but it's fun to watch, and makes the Seg look hip and sexy. Nothing wrong with that in my book.

What I endeavored to say, was that Whilst the film was a delightful combination of a urbane spirit, flavoured with the rough urban image of city life, I pondered the message that was conveyed amongst the youths in the image. I applaud the production as being high spirited and enthusiastic and pondered why the reaction to it has been so derogatory.
I also did not concur with my fellow enthusiasts on their reaction of the production.
My thought where that Segway, LLC should be alerted to this wonderful production and should take a lesson from it. My constituents and I thought that the video was "well done"
My only regret was, that the accoutrements and accessories on the segways were a bit 'low key' and thought that the production value would have been increased if they were more adequately decorated, and I would have been greatly pleased.
