My i170 arrived this morning and it brought back memories of when I received my first 2 i167's on the 24th or 25th of February, 2003.

It may be midnight blue, but many areas seems black, which takes nothing away from the unit - it comes with the small pouch for carrying allen wrenches, etc., and 2 red, 1 black, and 1 yellow key - still included are the allen keys and the power cord - the manuals have been updated and a video is included which I have not had the chance to review yet.

The rims are now "grey" and the batteries are black.

I took a short spin and everything seemed fine

The button to go to power assist is now blue and is the same color as the top half of the kickstand which appears to be the same blue color (I don't know why they chose that blue for the top of the kickstand)

the i170 is now sleeping with its 2 i167's and 1 p133

pixs at www.sonyguy.com/midnight_blue

more pixs tomorrow and if anyone has any special requests or questions, please advise.

Super-cool! That is one _nice_ looking machine!

With sales tax going up for "out of state purchaes" next month here in Utah, maybe it's time to get an i170 :)

I DO like the looks of the new color scheme ... except for that kickstand top piece ... WHO made that decision. Sorry but I think that looks HORRIBLE!

Thanks Richard. So did we ever figure out if the "carbon fiber" is real?

Richard,

Those pics are addictive :)

If you have a chance to take a few photos "outside," it would be great to see what the color looks like in the sun!

Also, are the wheels really gray? All the photos from LLC make them look blue-ish. Hmm. Would you recommend putting black or gray reflective stickers in the divots (from Wayne) or would you recommend leaving them solid gray?

Does it come with the quick release bolt for the control shaft, or did you purchase that separately.

Gorgeous pix, Richard! Thanks for putting them up. You will have to start storing these babies across the hall <G>.

will take better pictures in daylight today - the wheels to me look gray - overall so much of the unit looks more black than midnight blue - the only readily recognizable "blue" is the top of the kickstand and the power assist button both of which are identical in color (and I don't understand why that blue was chosen)

also when not in balance mode, display is light green and not orange (I think it is because both orange and green lights are on together - llc is checking) display at www.sonyguy.com/mbdisplay2

chrome would look good on wheels

I love the new color scheme! The only things im not crazy about are the blue kickstand and white trim thing that runs the width of the handle bars, altho probably does a decent job taking the scratches when proped up against a wall. Overall I really like it, great photos!

I too have a new i170 nestled between my two i167s and the wheels and mat are a greyed blue...subtle, but definately blue. I think that the blue kickstand top (matching the blue button) is a stroke of great design with color. The midnight blue looks black in most light other than bright sunlight and it needs the bright blue accents to set it off. If you look closely there is a tiny little light reflecting fleck in the color. The blue kickstand feature is just enough bright blue to accent the whole scheme in an interesting "Stealth-like" way. This is an elegant and well reasoned design. You will love it when you see it in person if you have a beating heart in your body.
Everyone who sees it and who knows the i167 has to hook their drool cup on up over their ears.
Thanks LLC![^]:D[:I][8D][/:)][:O]:);)[:P]

I'll be right over! Just kidding ... I am anxious to see one in person, though. From all the pictures I've seen, it looks like Scott and his design team have done a super job with this one.

That's a nice looking machine, though I would replace that kickstand with the "normal" one.

I think I prefer the new dark color to my current light color'ed i. I'm sure if I switched, I'd not want to go back.

Since you guys purchased these babies before 7/1 have you received your 12.0 bags yet??? I am wondering as I hope LLC ships the new style ones with the 170s. (The Dealer I bought it from said that a call to LLC would be made whining to LLC to make that happen)

Richard,

Just to clarify, you are just teasing about the red and green units, right?

Image trimming out with a couple of blue leds for more accent and chrome wheels is a definate yes. What can I say its a carry over from the gas vehicle fad.
