Mr. Tropea,

I have always liked your posts and am very happy that you created this wonderful site.

Unless I missed the post, I feel like you never finished your story about your trip to New Hampshire... no pics, no inside scoop...

Is that upcoming? Looking for more...

Thanks,,

adios

Hey.. I was just about to post about my Segway HT experience for the day :)

No, I didn't finish writing up the NH experience. Please forgive me as I'm recovering from a really bad cold and have been busy with friends/family.

Momentone - I'm really glad to have you as a forum member. I remember all your positive support and great posts from the good 'ol days.

Quick Segway HT experience:

Tonight I Segwayed home through snow conditions. There was about 1/4 inch of sleet/snow on the ground with heavier stuff coming down. It's about a 3.7 - 3.9 mile trip between my parent's house and my place.

Visibility was poor. I DO NOT recommend Segwaying at night.. through snow.. in the freezing cold. That said.. ;)

Took it nice and easy but had one small problem which alarmed at the time. I got a red flashing warning ("There is a fault in the platform"):

Forget what it meant at the time it happened. Right before the message, I had inadvertently ridden into a situation where one wheel was on concrete and the other was in the grass/dirt. I didn't see it because there was a layer of white sleet/snow and the surface looked smooth. I think the tire in the snow/grass/dirt spun up a little faster than the other and the Segway HT brought me to a controlled stop.

That was an interesting experience. Red flashed.. alarm sounding.. but no real danger as the machine just slowed down, kept me stable and then just took a nap.

When I saw the wrench I assumed the worse but I just put the key back in and it went to orange -> green smiley. No problem!

The rest of trip went w/o incident.

Regards,

Frank A. Tropea

I am sure those Segway winter tires would have made that a little bit of a nicer trip. ;)
