SEG America, the national Segway Enthusiast Group of America is pleased to finally be able to announce the winner of the free Segway Human Transporter I-series giveaway. This machine was graciously donated by Segway LLC for the purposes of this giveaway to help get SEG America started.
There were more than 3,000 people entered in the drawing, but only one person could win it. The winner was chosen by randomly picking one entry from this list. We contacted the winner privately so that we could confirm his eligibility and make sure all of the paperwork was in place before we made the public announcement. This has been done.
The winner is Jeff McCabe from Texas, currently attending school at the University of Oklahoma with a Mechanical Engineering major. We have spoken with the Jeff on the phone and he is absolutely thrilled to have won the free Segway HT.

Here is what Jeff has to say about the Segway HT and being the winner:
quote:Ever since I was 2 years old and took apart my family’s lawnmower I have been intrigued by technology. All throughout my youth and on through my teenage years my mind was like a sponge sucking in all of the developments in technology made around me everyday. When I heard that there was a new secret invention coming from Mr. Kamen I knew that it would be one of the most significant developments in technology relating to the transportation in recent years. What I didn’t know was that what later became the Segway would become much more. Segway became not only a great advancement in the way we get around but also a way to get people together that appreciate what it is.
When I signed up for SEG America I signed up due to what the Segway stood for not expecting to win anything since I never have won more than $20. Being a mechanical engineering student in college I truly do understand the effort put forth by Mr. Kamen and his team to create this technical work of art. At first I didn’t believe that I had won, but after the reality hit me, I began to think of all the ways I could use it. Not to mention that I am going to be the only person on campus with one and will probably catch quite a bit of attention.
I would like to thank everyone at SEG America for putting this together and allowing a person that dreamt big to have his dream come true.
