Remember the comparison between gliding on a Segway and riding on a magic carpet that always pops up in conversation?

Here's a sneak peek at my Segway, all dressed up for the Houston Art Car Parade tomorrow. At the time this pic was taken, it wasn't quite finished... final pics will be posted tomorrow after the parade. I plan on getting someone to document SEG Houston's participation pretty well (there are nine of us gliding in it!).

Enjoy and I'll have more for all of you tomorrow!

Glide on!
Robert

That is phenomenal, okay YOU have my prize for the most creative decoration on a Segway!

Mind if I steal that idea for my Halloween costume?

Sal,

Thanks for the compliments... it was lots of fun to put together.

How about I just loan you the get-up for Halloween? ; )

Seriously, if you'd like to borrow it, I'd be more than happy to mail it to you... or, I could give you plans on how to build one if you like. It's a relatively inexpensive thing to build... a few wood lathes, a small coffee table rugs, a bag of cotton or poly stuffing, some small quantities of white cloth, a hot glue gun and a few screws.

Pretty easy to make! I did it in less than four hours!

Since I only have one 'costume' made, I can't loan it out to everyone, so I will be happy to provide plans to anyone who is interested.

Ditto! That is so great! Magic carpet--precisely! What a clever guy. Can't wait to see pictures of Aladdin on his carpet and the rest of the gang.

Robert, I wish I had the toolshed and the garage to make that wonderful cover for the platform... I would like the plans though...

I wouldn't want you to go through the hassle of mailing it out... but... (I have sent you an email)

Lin and I used our Segs to view the staging of the parade, but we could not commit to actually riding in it. As we were leaving we ran into the Segway entry. It was very cool, especially Robert and Alan on their magic carpets and decked out in their Genie costumes.

Robert, did your Seg make it? Did you get any more shut downs that day? Sorry I couldn't visit longer, I had a business appointment at 1:30

Smoother,

Nice to meet you on Saturday. I noticed that as you and Lin rode away that you had what appeared to be a cloth handle peeking out from under your platforms. I presume this to be for easier lifting.

Please detail this, preferably on a new thread that includes pictures!

Thanks.
