Hi, folks. I'm new to this forum, so this is my first post. Anyway, I've searched the forums for info on ramps to get a Segway into my vehicle and I think I settled on one:

http://www.homecareproducts.com/ramps/trackramp.html

The thing I like about them is that they can be used at either 5 feet or 7 feet (even 3 feet if you have a use for that, but I don't) and they seem to be more affordable than other ramps at the same length (7 feet). I very much liked the ramps that scoghill bought and recommended, and it came down to these VS those that he has, the Handi-Tracks. The Handi Tracks are very nice but they cost twice as much. The Handi-tracks are very light and very easy to manage from what I could tell from his movie that I found on this forum. I hope I end up liking my telescoping ramps as much. It looked as if the EZ-Access telescoping ramps have the most compactness when collapsed of any ramps I looked at, so maybe that will be a nice feature. I wonder if any of you have tried the EZ-Access Track ramps? If so, what do you think of them?

Tooth,

Looks like AllegroMedical.com sells the 7 foot ones for $267.

Has anyone bought it yet?

Just a thought on ramps. I used a home type extruded aluminum door threshold. Turn it upside down and cover it with non slip stick on surface....Pick the cheapy one that has no extrusion on that side so it is smooth. My application on my trailer hitch car carrier only needed a 36 inch ramp. Actually, I lucked out as to cost as went to a hardware store closing shop, and picked up two at the last minute for a dollar each, but the regular price was only $12.00. Many are MUCH more though and you can get longer ones.....Segways only weigh 83 pounds so we don't need a railroad track to run them on. These ramps only weigh OUNCES and you can toss them in the trunk in seconds. It is SO easy to use, that I leave my carrier on the car a lot of the time and take the Segway a lot of places. I have even tried 1/4 inch plywood which worked fine. Incidentally my carrier is 14 inches above the ground level. FWIW Dept.

Greetings on and all, welcome tooth, I hope that ypu will find this forum to your liking. I choose a different route. I picked a carrier that had ramps as part of the carrier. The whole thing slides into the receiver of a trailer hitch. The ramps fold upwards and are used to become a part of the hold down. It is very easy to use and I got it in mind that my wife could easiely operate it when I am no longer able to do so. It is called a SEGTRAY. There is a web site SEGTRAY.com that shows photos of the carrier. This way I do not have to mess with what to do with ramps and I can still open the rear hatch of my Honda Pilot with the Segway mounted in the carrier. I'm very pleased, just thought I'd pass on an alternative to the seperate ramps system. JR SEG-ON SEG-RIGHT

FYI,
I bought a set of these telescopic ramps. They do NOT work well for the P. The P does not have enough clearance to get over the high sidewalls. I cannot recommend them for the P.

I cut mine up trying to make them work, Otherwise I would gladly sell/give them to an I owner.

Hi All--I too bought a Segtray and I love it--easy to use even for a wimpy weak girl. It pops on and off with ease and takes seconds to load and unload the Seg. If I had to ramp up to a trunk, I wouldn't want to do it alone but this is a breeze. Mobility and independance rocks!! Not very expensive either--SEGTRAY.com

Tooth...try this website. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/segtray/index.htm . It may answere you questions. I also have a segtray and with my wife in mind because she may have to load it for me , it is a piece of cake. With the HT loaded it becomes a monolithnic unit, it's all tied together and you can put a simple lock on the control shaft brace which locks it to the whole unit. I havve had mine for over a year now and it is still like new. A quality product that was well thought out for durability, quality and ease of operation. 2 thumbs up.... 5 stars... and so on. Hope it works out for you . JR SEG-ON SEG-RIGHT

Thanks for the latest replies, folks. I checked in a couple of days ago and saw the first few, but I've not been online in the last couple of days and I'm just now reading up. Novato, I'm sorry i didn't read your post before I ordered. On the other hand, I have the "i" model, so the clearance will be higher. I'll let you all know how it does as I just received them tonight. So far out of all things that I've seen (and after handling these telescoping ones myself), I think Scoghill has the best of all worlds --

1. Nothing semi-permanent to attach (unlike a carrier)
2. The ramps he has are light as a feather.
3. The ease of use of his ramps are unparalleled by anything I've seen. It looks as easy to unfold his ramps in his movie as it is to unfold a checkerboard!

The ramps I received today are kind of heavy. They do telescope to 7 feet though, which will be good for the 31 inches height I need to roll the Seg up. They store very compactly. When I give them a test tomorrow I'll report back on how I rate them. They seem very high quality. The segtray looks good in general, but I don't think I want a big carrier attached to my vehicle if I can help it, and I definitely wouldn't want to put the carrier on and off more than once. Anyway, stay tuned for a report on my telescoping ramps with the i model if you are interested.

I bought a pair of ramps that are used for lawnmowers. Sits right on the back bumper of my wagon. They fold in half and are very light weight. Cost - $210. I set them up so I can power the Seggie by walking between the ramps. Its easy.
