IndiFirstEngineer and I went gliding for the first official SEG Indiana meeting and glide this past Sunday.
First off it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, though it could have stood to being 10 degrees warmer.
We glided throughout the center of Indianapolis, all the way up and down the canal, through a part of White River State Park, ate at Hooters (can't leave that out) , and then caught the NASCAR 3D IMAX Film at the Museum.
By the way, Stu was looking sharp in his decked out Segway. (see picture)

Oh we gave several demos, especially a couple each to 4 Purdue Marching Band members, in return we both got to whack that drum!
We entered the IMAX theater on or Segs (picture it, the lobby of the Theater is about a big as 1/2 an arena without seats, it's huge, and there weren't too many people). We went to the reception desk, and asked about the times of the movies and the female at the desk was curious about our machines. As we were standing still, many people gathered, and asked us questions, and a security guard came up to us and asked us to leave stating that he didn't want us to mark up the floor. Stu pointed out that the tires are designed not to mark the floors, at which point he said that we weren't allowed to ride our segways in there, so we got off.
We bought tickets for the 3:30 show, and asked the powers that be if we could park out gliders against the wall and lock them up when we watched the movie, we also asked if we could plug them in.
This is when the unbelievable helplessness began. NOONE would say yes, everyone began passing the buck, well you'd have to ask security, well security asked us to ask you, another gentleman said he would ask the mgr on duty. And the passing of the buck continued.
We were told that right before the movie started, they'd have an answer for us, so we left and ate. Hooters, by the way allowed us to glide in and out, as well as park and plug our Segways.
When we came back to the IMAX theater, we rode in on the 2nd level and then took the elevator down and glided the 10 feet from the elevator to the small hallway behind the reception desk, there were 2 people at the reception desk, the friendly lady we saw at first, and another much older gentleman who we hadn't seen before.
We asked them if it was okay to park them right behind the desk. The older gentleman said he would have to ask security. The lady remembered us and said she didn't mind. I locked both of them up we plugged them in and went in to watch the movie.
All in all, no final decision was made by anyone there. Stu and I couldn't believe that some people can't make simple decisions, and take some responsibility for something harmless.
This wasn't a "job is on the line" situation. We paid good money to watch a movie, and all we were asking was to park 2 Segways in very less traveled corridor.
Stu commented, as we were gliding out that it's strange that there would be so much commotion and indecision about a novel device like the Segway at a Museum of all places.
