A visit to Florida Ever-Glides --Sarasota, Fl

After four days of visitng Coral Gables and gliding near the Biltmore Hotel each morning we found ourselves in Sarasota. I had the great pleasure of joining Tom Jacobson on one of his tours around this beautiful city. Tom sure does guided tours right - I think he sets the "gold standard". He did three tours today - I rode along on the first and watched the second while we passed the waterfront park on a tour boat, then we saw the third tour pass while we shopped at an artist colony. Tom and his wife Janey sure are busy people, but not too busy to really do a professional job. I was very impressed by how well organized and well thought out his business operation is. He puts maximum emphasis on SAFETY. Every helmet is hand adjusted by Tom and everyone watches the Safety Video. His training methods are superb - he gets people comfortable and confident (and safety minded) very quickly. I was most impressed by his attention to detail: rain ponchos, trail packs, water in the 12.0 bags. He even caries a tire patch kit and air pump. Great model Tom - and he seems to be having a ball also! Tom's hallmark includes total customer focus - and he provides 150% customer satisfaction 100% of the time. What a formula!

Here are a few pictures I snapped during my visit. By the way, Tom does not let the riders snap photos while we toured (SAFETY Again), but he has a photo stop at which time he uses their cameras to take photos for them.

Peter - great pics! Tom and Janey have more fun and have glided more miles in the last few months than any 4 of us SCers put together. I noticed Tom's Z-coil shoes still giving him that "spring" in his step!-:)

Notice Tom sitting behind a neat desk? Janey was working hard when I was there on tour a couple of weeks ago. I hope Beckpm doesn't mind me "stealing" those pix to show the couple I'm taking on the tour with me next week (after cancelling two weeks in a row - sorry, Tom).

No problem - use the pictures as you like. I am at Universal Studios today in Orlando encountering some resistence to using the HT at the onsite Portofino hotel.
