For those of you who remember, Segway was sending me a new powerbase following my Safety Shutdown and subsequent no starts. My segway is working fine, but my schedule is too tight for the engineer to have come and installed the new powerbase alredy.

I thought I'd take pictures of what Segway sent me and get comments, if anyone would care to make any.

All I have to say is the LLC is a wonderful company that seems to genuinely care for it's customers.

It's going to be interesting to see whether this base is 12.0 or some other SW. It doesn't have that sticker.

Here is the address where the pictures are housed:

Thanks,
Sal

P.S. For those of you who spotted this thread early in it's life and had a chance to go to my webspace to view the pictures: I have removed the question I had under one of the photos, as I know the answer now, I should have known! :-)

There is nothng better then recieving a box with the Segway logo on it! Good shot of the elastomer couplings.

And take a look at the packaging, no way that was going to get damaged.

You gotta love how Segway always includes brand new screws & bolts complete with Loctite already on them.

To install your new powerbase, you will need a T-45 head to bolt on the gearboxes, and a torque wrench to set them at 40Nm. I thought I had enough tools, but not that one.

The tech also explained that replacement control bases are pre-programmed to be keyed just like your original one. That way they don't have to send you replacement keys and nobody else can use your new powerbase. That's pretty cool of them.

SegwayBill, although it's probably what I think already, is that white "gear" like thing is the elastomer coupling?

Apart from the workmanship and quality as well as novelty, this elastomer coupling is there anything seriously special about it? What does it exactly do, obviously it's connected to the gearboxes, but besides that is it designed the way it is to do anything special?

It is the coupling between the motor and gear box, it absorbs the vibration and tourque between the two.
My machine had a failure of least one which required it be returned to Bedford for replacement. I have meant to do a post about it, perhaps tomorrow rain has been forcasted
