View Full Version : My new wheels! Literally! :)

Rich (W9GFO) from Washington offered to paint my wheels (okay, I asked him too--I love his). He tried out a new color, "dove gray."

They are awesome. I love the Segway HT, but the black tires are oh, so industrial looking. I wanted "pedestrian," not "industrial" for my HT. So I got a set of _black reflective_ stickers from Wayne (SegOn) and sent them with my wheels to Rich.

Here are the results. I had to go for a long ride; it's so nice out there, and I fit in even better with the custom wheels.

In the day, I'm going to look more pedestrian, and at night I'm going to be even more visible. This will be great!

My new wheels, next to the standard ones. This is indoor, in bad light, with a flash, emulating the outdoors at night.

In front of a home; this looks like it fits perfectly.

Rich has also graciously offered to paint wheels for anyone else at just $85/pair (or $120/pair if you want the reflective stickers--they are a super-pain to put on). I'll post something about this in the "for sale" thread; I only mention it here because it takes quite a bit of time to do this right, and I don't want a bunch of people hounding Rich to paint their tires for free :)

I love my new wheels!

Chris

Great look Chris! Wonderful... Having just spent a bit of money revamping my music studio, I think I'll have to wait for my wheel's cosmetic upgrade!

But I love that dove gray color!

That's a very cool look.

It blends nicely with the CS and handlebar.

Good work Rich!
They look awesome!

I totaly agree, the light grey wheels makes the segway look much more friendly. Plus, it looks great!

Jeff,

I'm sorry that no one told you, but you can't ride a Segway. You have to be at least 100 pounds :)

Fear not, for even though I come from the Forbidden City, I surely do not agree with the rules.

Thanks for the kind words guys, it was Jeff who initially inspired me to paint my wheels in the first place. I would definitely put the stickers on, I found it helpful to wetsand with 600 grit to reduce the tiny little bumps that would show through otherwise.
