A pet-peeve. They say the segway has a zero-degree turning radius.
I think it actually has a zero turning radius. Cause you don't measure radius using degrees, you use length. Right, folks?
I mean, when you use degrees to measure the "turning radius" of a 4-wheeled vehicle, you are actually just measuring the angle that the wheels can turn, and where that angle intersects the angle of the rear axel.
You can get that radius in feet by performing trigonometry if you know the distance between the front wheels and the rear wheels.
Since the Segway has only one axel, you have to do a different calculation to determine turn radius.
If you can't compare two different angles, you really arent comparing measurements of degrees at all.
So length is the measurement you would use to determine what the radius of turn would be on a segway. The Segway can turn without moving its center point, so zero distance.
Not zero degrees.
Right?

Segway: Vehicle of Dream
YOu're right Bruce. As you pointed out Automobile magazines list turning circles in feet.
What I am wondering about are new accessories!

why not just zero turn radius?
that makes everyone happy

Zero turn radius is good for me.
Turn on your center, zero length radius.
Or, maybe the robot can't turn. Zero degree turn. Huh.

How about, "When you rotate the left handle, the world turns around you!"
