it was a boring Sunday afternoon here in worcester, until a few of my friends and i decided to head into Boston and glide around the city for a while... i have to say, Boston is just about the most perfect city for segways!

We started our day by packing up two of the segs in a single car-- don't they look cute together?

After we arrived in boston, we took a few pics of the scenery in and around boston...

As it was quickly getting dark, and we needed to recharge (both ourselves and the segways), we stopped at the "cheers" bar/grill for a bite to eat, and some well-needed recharging... (we ended up getting about 40 minutes worth of recharging here)

On the way back to our cars, we realized that we would not make it on the charge we had, so we stopped in the Boston Commons at a small pavilion for a quick recharge, about 15 minutes worth.

Overall it was an awesome ride-- about 10 miles total, see a map here:

Maybe next time we can get more Boston-area seggers to come!

Great pictures Tom! I bet it was a wonderful glide.

Many of the posters here have commented about charging in public places and the like.... I Have to find out if there are such outlets here in Indy...

Are they commonplace?

We just looked around for a while til we found an outlet somewhere. We actually found another one on the front of an office building, but the outlet was off-- go figure :)

Overall it was an insanely ride... if we have more time next time, i'll post on here a meeting place.. so more can join if they want...

Tom, if you want to gather a larger group... let me know the next time you plan a group glide and I can post the info the the segwayboston.org website and send out an email to the area SEG members.

Looks like fun ... next time you're running low on power, just find a big parking garage, ride the elevator to the top then regenerative brake all the way down a few times :-)

Sam

Kona, being a rookie I don't understand regenerative charging by braking? I understand the concept that if you roll down a hill somehow it recharges but then again... no I don't understand how to brake and gain charging. Please explain??

Do you actually get a charge when plugging in hot? Check the indicator to see if it's a steady green.
I've plugged in after a long ride and no steady charging lite for quite some time.

Did you get a chance to stop by Mikes Cannoli shop on Hanover St? If not, a return trip is in order. Agreed?

Jeff-- The steady green came on after a minute or two of being plugged in. Remember, its still fairly cool in boston this time of year!

I'll make sure to stop by next time... :) We did ride right by it though..
