Hello everyone!
Here's a few updates on our Houston SEG and the events upcoming that may interest you!
1. Today was the final day to register for the Houston Art Car Parade. For those of you who did register PLEASE confirm with me soon. If some of you guys and gals forgot to, let me know immediately if you would still like to participate. I have a way with certain people, and chances are we can slip ya into the parade even if you didn't get signed up by deadline. The longer we wait on it, the slimmer the chances get, so shout now if you need to get registered!
2. Another couple of upcoming parades to tell you about: The Sylvan Beach Day Parade will be coming up on Saturday April 24, 2004. It's in La Porte, which may or may not sound like it'd be fun to you, but I can tell you from past experience that it's a blast, and usually draws a good crowd, though not in the same caliber as the Art Car Parade. Deadline to register for the Sylvan Beach Day Parade is April 16th and there is NO FEE to enter. I glided in the parade last year, and it was totally fun. Since I was the only glider in the parade I got a lot of notice, and I get excited at the prospect of having our whole group in it. The people of La Porte are fun-loving, kind, and amazingly festive people during this parade, and there will also be a carnival and live music on the Sylvan Beach fairgrounds after the parade. I would love to have you all participate in it!
The next parade I know of is the Fourth Of July Parade, also in La Porte. It will be as much fun as the Sylvan Beach Day Parade, but there's no need to rush out and register just yet... it's still a ways off, so just keep the thought in the back of your head for a little while and try to keep your schedules clear for it if you'd like to join in.
Finally...
3. We will need to get together again soon for another glide! Hopefully the bad weather will be going away soon and we can have clear skies! Is anyone else as sick of this rain as I am? ; )
Allan M. has mentioned Stude Park as a potential meeting site for us. Personally, I'm fine with it if his exploratory trip turned out well. Is everyone free to meet up on Sunday, March 14th sometime after noon? I'd like to do a Sunday meet as there are at least a few members of our group who have work to do on Saturdays, so out of consideration to them, how does everyone else feel? There's also going to be a ton of things to discuss other than that... so I'd like to schedule at least a two or three hour meet (which will include the glide itself!).
All my best to each of you,
-Robert
