There will certainly be many, many Segways in Atlanta all around the Georgia Dome and GWCC during the FIRST Robotics Championship weekend (April 15-17). I think we should try to organize a group glide. I would be glad to act as "point of contact" for organizing this event (but I will need some help defining a "tour route"). Please post here and/or email me to indicate your interest and availability. It will be a busy weekend for all FIRST participants, so it could be difficult to find a time convenient for everyone. Your suggestions are welcome!!

“Who goes out and says, ‘You have a better probability of winning the state lottery than making a nickel in professional sports. And by the way, last year two million exciting technical jobs went unfilled in this country because you weren't there to take that job. And it pays you 10 times as much as flipping burgers, and it's fun and it's exciting and you get to create things and build things and help make the world a better place and help make yourself a better living.’ Who tells them this?”

Indy,

I'm trying to schedule in a day or two to go to the competition. I'm pretty open right now as to which day to be there.

I want to bring an HT with me :) How can we find out where we'll be "allowed" ahead of time? Inside? Outside?

I'd love to do a group glide as well.

Count me in, I've submitted the volunteer paperwork online for "crowd control" so I hope to be there in some semi-official capacity. I'll be bringing my 3 HTs from Nashville, and I am looking forward to a grand weekend!

Maybe a group glide through Centennial Olympic Park, then over to Underground Atlanta for dinner one evening?

We are going try using the Segways simulate robots when the rules are being explained. At lunch time we will do a song or two of Seg Dancing.
At last months Lego League Stan gave over hundred demos. I liked being in the crowd and asking the children about their bot's.

SegwayBill,

Does that mean we will be allowed inside the GeorgiaDome? I want to help! :) :) :)

What's up with the Georgia Dome are there issuses with Segways inside? So far I planning only to do NYC unless my rookie team (1462) goes all the way. At our venue for Lego League I was stopped by the building manager who got a little excited, when I told her that I was disabled she changed her attitude and told me to have a nice day. Stan stayed under the radar and had no problems.
Segways are legal in the state of Georgia. The Segway issue should be addressed before we get to the finals.
