This made it onto the "news" forum, but it's a good general interest piece too for this forum, I believe:

"Canada Post testing Segway . . . "
http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/WinnipegSun/News/2004/02/24/358763.html

It's overall a good article, although it's funny how people view things; there's one "negative" part right down at the bottom:

"Hnytka said she has heard the machines can stall when the batteries run out, leaving users stranded."

Um, okay. I guess a car will stall when it runs out of gas too. How funny. Also, the article says the Segway can climb stairs. Wow, what model are they using?!? :)

"There are also reports the scooters aren't stable, although Canada Post said improvements have been made."

Huh????

My personal experience of the press is that they get stuff wrong in every story they write. They are not the brightest people and they are often writing their stories with an "angle". In fact I think they teach them that in Press school. W/o an angle stories tend to wander. Unfortunatly, angles are often chosen so the story reads well and not for accuracy or impartiality of reporting.

My experience has been that if I know the reported subject, the writer always is far off base. My rule is if I don't know the subject be very skeptical. Especially, far-right and far-left journalists(just thought I'd throw that in)[^].
