Can I ride this on the Strip in Las Vegas? Do they allow it in the trade shows?

Hey Bob! Welcome to SC!
I just got back from 'Vegas 2 weeks ago and can tell you Segways are still legal on the Las Vegas Blvd (the strip) however they are not allowed in the trade shows unless part of the show. A month ago a tourist was hit with a Segway on the Strip and soon they may well be banned altogether (not good news for Seg rental agencies there).

Good Morning Bob:
Yes, in Nevada you are considered a pedestrian if you are on a Segway. You can ride on the Strip if you OWN your Segway, but we are not allowed to rent Segways and have them ridden on the strip. We are in the process of working through the details of getting that passed now, and have been for the last 6 months. With all the problems of the pedicabs they city is worried about more wheeled vehicles on the sidewalks.

Go and Enjoy, it's a lot of fun on the strip.

Isn't everything legal in Las Vegas? It would be a great place to have one. No trade shows.... Does that mean they can't go in the Casinos?

The casinos and the convention centers don't want Segways riding around because of the potential problems. There are a few that allow you to ride them to get in and out of your room, but that's about it.

Hey Jeff:
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

The Las Vegas Hilton is the best for letting you ride in and out of the hotel, but only to and from your room.

The strip is no problem to get around. Once you figure out how to ride on and off the escelators, you can go anywhere. The strip is VERY Segway friendly. The main thing is to not do anything to upset people. Stay going slow, at not much more than a walking pace, when people are around and you will have no problems. I'll be there doing some filming next week ont he strip for an ad as well as for a convention. We have rented 2 Segways to Ocean Spray with our Chariot Skins for the Nightclub and Bar convention. We will be at the main convention center for 2 days then going to all the parties at night. It should be a blast.

Let me know how your trip goes.

I am sitting in the Las Vegas airport after going to a trade show in a wheelchair, so I feel qualified to respond to this thread!! ;>)
Using a wheelchair was exhausting, frustrating, and boy is it every BIGGER than my P!! I do understand why they don't want segways running around the convention center. This is where I would like a "speed limiter" so that they could ensure we don't go faster than the peds. But my goodness, the times I was blocking the flow with my unwieldy chair! The P is much easier to manuever, and easier to tuck away in small spaces. By the way, I have always been the "pusher", not the "pushee" and so was shocked at how many people DIDN'T SEE ME! Of course, that doesn't happen when I'm gliding. My head was below their eye level, and I had to really pay attention so keep people from running into me. And with the large number of electric chairs and scooters - I find it very difficult to believe that an encounter with a P would be nearly as likely to injure someone as getting rundown by an electic wheelchair.
