Anyone know if the HT qualifies for any type of tax write off? If you drive a hybrid, you get like $2000 in write offs (I think – at least here in CA).

Seems like removing my SUV from the streets is worth something. (aside from the fun I get using the Segway HT).

Cheers,

Andrew Crow

You own a Segway, now buy a Macintosh.

I think it must be used for a legitimate business use.

You'd have to have a friend on the California ARB, but you could check here for cash: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/zevprog/zip/eligiblevehicles.htm#2 It defines "up to $2,000 for Zero Emission Motorcycles (ZEMs) and $1,000 for Neighborhood ZEVs. ARB staff will work with vehicle manufacturers to identify eligible vehicle models." But, the caveat: "Purchases / leases prior to the placement of a vehicle model on this list will not be eligible for grants." So, if they don't recognize Segway and you get them to do so, your previous purchase would not be subject to rebate. Another place LLC's heavy lobbying hand should be felt.

To check your state, see the US Dept. of Energy site:

The one write off you can almost be sure to use is if used as a medical device, it "may" be deductible (consult your CPA).
