I apparently have the only Segway in Augusta, GA! We have a beautiful Riverwalk alon the Savannah River. Today I took the Seg and my girlfriend down and rode the levee. Ran into one of my college prof's (Ok I've been out of college for 23 years) gave demo by the National Science Center for four different folks and let 'em ride the "best damned thing ever invented".
An Army Sergeant that had volunteered his Saturday to work with kids at the NSC said, "OK, Ive got to buy one now!"
My college lit prof wants to write an article for the local paper on the Seg.
All this is Way Cool!
I'd love to hear your experiences here in this topic. ( Can you tell how excited I am by this thing!)

When tooling around the little town of Pacifica, I've concluded that I'm the first Segway to be used regularly there. This morning I went down to starbucks ( I was staying with friends there due to the unfortunate situation at my home), parked the Segway just inside, got my mocha frappacuino and watched people slow down and stare at the HT as they walked in. Fun stuff.

I'm the only one with a Segway at UNH. It's fun, but I'd like to have someone to go riding with. Riding in groups is so much fun!

Apparently, I'm the only person in Boise, Idaho with a Segway. Hard to believe but that's what the cops, street vendors and everyone else tells me.
I'm not all that wild about being the only Segger in town. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd have hundreds of owners and a big enthusiast group here. Blending into the background would be nice. The attention gets to me after a while, I would glady do without it.
One of best things about NH was the SEG we put together. If you think being the only guy in town is fun, you're in for a pleasant suprise when you go riding with a group.

These words echo my feelings as well.
Even though we have a number of Segways in the NYC area, I'm the only one I know of in The Bronx. It gets lonely.
The best times I've had on the Segway, was at our NYC owners group. With a group of 12 of us gliding through the city, it doesn't get much better.
But lately, the meetings have been on days that I can't attend. So it gets lonely in the great white northeast of NYC.
Can't wait for the summer!!

I know there are at least 2 more segs on long island, but none remotely close to Port Jefferson. When I glide on my i series around this quaint harbor town, by the ferry dock, and up main street, i get the double takes, the broad grins, and lots of smiles from passers by. The cops chuckle as I balance motionless waiting for the light to cross the street at an intersection. I met Dean's younger brother last summer. He was with a bunch of Harley riders that regularly gather on summer weekends in the municipal lot by the ferry. (It sails hourly back and forth to Bridgeport, CT.) I've given a few demos, but I'm surprised at how many people are skittish about trying it. It definately draws lots of attention. Not the perfect vehicle for a bank robbery!

My HT is the only one in town (1300 residents) and most people are getting used to this eccentric old fa@t. Yesterday, riding home from work, a person yelled at me to slow down. I was in a hurry so I didn't acknowledge him. Usually, I am anxious to discuss the 5 questions usually asked. Today, I will create some interest as it is now snowing and I plan to travel the community with the Mountaineers on proving what this magnificent machine will do.
Our pharmacy business is always frantic when the forcast is threatening. We needed a new prescription for one of our patients, but, he stated he wouldn't be able to get back to pick it up if it snowed. I promised to deliver on my "scooter" as he calls it. He laughed as if I was joking. If the prescription call comes today, I will do just that to prove the utility of, again, this magnificent machine.

Most of us are "lonely" Seggers, carrying the torch thru thick and thin.
Many times our "aloneness"
can threaten our thoughts and 'ner do us in.
But around the next corner, is another Segway smile.,
Which keeps us all gliding along further,in sweet Segway style!

Try being one of only 3 in the country! Now that's lonely! Seriously, I agree with everybody who's said "it'd be great if there were more!" I'm really looking forward to the first time we get to glide with somebody else!
Cheers
Ron
There are a little over six thousand Segway owners!
There are a little over six billion people in the world!
I'm one in a million! :)

Well Ron, you know you always are welcome in Sydney for a joint glide!
About your statistics, it probably is a little higher... etak has one "in the country" (currently imprisoned in customs), and my friends had spotted an i series around where I live a couple of months ago... but no recent sightings...
And yes sailboss, it is too much fun being the only Segway (or one of a small number) in a city. Don't get one if you don't like attention or talking to strangers. I have talked to more people in the past month than I have in the past 10 years... remarkably, even some of the people in my block!
Cheers
Ronny
