I have found the perfect heavy duty rain poncho that will safely protect bothe the rider and the Segway from the rain. It fits over both! It is made by Nike and sells for about $10.00 at Sports Authority. The best part is that the poncho folds back into a heavy duty bag that tucks away nicely into the large front pocket of the 12.0 bag. This poncho should last for several years.

Tom, Thank you for all your tips and locating the ponch will be a great help for those of us caught in a FL shower as they sometimes are know to "pop-up" out of nowhere. Do you think they are availabke any place else? SEG-ON SEG-RIGHT JR

This time of year in south Florida is so nice because we dont have the worry of those afternoon showers! During the summer there's always the risk you will get wet when those showers pop up just about anywhere within minutes!

Isn't the segway completely sealed, so it's safe from the elements?

Yes, though it may be completly sealed, my body isn't. And, I would rather stay dry and have my machine stay dry too. I was just passing along a good accessory to keep in the bag.

You also want to keep the key socket dry. When it gets wet you sometimes have to dry it off before the key will make contact and turn the Sewgway on. With any type of electronic device it's always best to keep as much of the elements off as possible.

I found out the hard way that my handlebar electronics werent completely rain proof, got a safety shutdown after a short time in the rain, fortunately LLC replaced CS under warranty, but I did make a little plastic cover to keep the keyport dry as others have said it won't necessarily work if too wet.
