In Tommorowland's Innoventions attraction, they have a new Segway experience where guests 16 and older with ID can get a test ride on a Segway.

This is teriffic news. I'll try and get more info next time I visit Disneyland, but here is a link to a discussion board where Disneyland fans are discussing it:

Isn't if funny how Disney has so many HTs around, yet the general public can't ride in the parks? But yes, Bruce, I think this is great news! The more people who try out/understand the HT, the better. I've found that 99% of the people that get on the HT love it.

Well, Disney has a lot of vehicles, but they don't let people drive them inside their parks (unless they're flying elephants!)

Great news. Two summers ago I saw my first HT while visiting Epcot Center. Dispite my request, I was not allowed to try it at that time. But it was great to see it and it was that encounter that gave me the HT-bug. Glad to know today's visitors will be able to glide.

It was at Disneyland where I saw my first Segway HT. The model shown in May of 2002 seemed plastic compared with the series "i" that was shipped. While we were not able to ride, I really appreciated all the questions that were answered, including the very important, "How do you get on and off?" No Segway video clips on the web indicated how simple it is to step on and off.

The ability for a guest to step on and ride is perfect. I wonder if the new management at Disneyland had something to do with it? Wouldn't it be neat if Segway LLC had a store in Tomorrowland where you could purchase the Segway HT?

I saw my first "live" HT in Epcot during the 2002 FIRST competition. I wanted to ride one so bad, but nobody there would let me. Little did I know that in less than a year, I would own one of my own!

Thats pretty cool.

If I didn't have so much experience with Segways, it would tick me off that they wouldn't let me ride.

Of course, if people are REALLY interested they'll just find their local SEG. Or start their own ;).

Fear not, for even though I come from the Forbidden City, I surely do not agree with the rules.

As of last week, while all three versions of the HT are being demonstrated at Innoventions in Epcot at Disney World, guests aren't (yet) allowed to try out the machines. So, the Disneyland demonstrations are an incentive to travel west rather than southeast!

Janice and I were visiting Disneyland on Saturday so we went over to the Innovations exhibit building to check out the Segways. We talked to one of the "Cast Members" in the demo area and she told us that they were not allowing the public to ride them yet. They were still orienting the Cast Members and the Segs would probably be available to the public in a week or two after they were trained. We discussed the procedures we used when we demo them and told her about some of the things to watch out for. We talked to her for about 10 minutes, then she was called away to take her turn on a Segway so we went on our way. We will make a point to check it again in a couple of weeks after the Holidays.

Mouse Planet has posted when the guest glides begin at Disneyland:

Scroll down to "Take it for a spin" to view the following information:

"If you've ever wanted to ride a Segway human transporter, here is your chance. Starting this week, visitors to Disneyland's Innoventions attraction in Tomorrowland will be able to try their skills on a Segway device. Riders 16 years and up can spend a few, brief minutes on the devices, as cast member spot them in the exhibit. The new attraction replaces the General Motors virtual reality exhibit.

Cast members were trained on the new exhibit last week, and expect it to officially open Tuesday or Wednesday this week. Operating hours will vary based on park attendance—try between noon and 5:00 for the best chance."
