This and the other recent pre-approved sales are indeed fraudulent. This is the note I got back when the scammer tried to have me thrown off of ebay for none payment:
Hello,
Thank you for writing in to Safe Harbor with your concerns, I will be
happy to assist you.
The recent items listed with this account were the result of an
unauthorized account takeover. Unfortunately, we were not aware of this
activity until some time after the listings appeared on the site. Once
we became aware of this activity, immediate action was taken. We are now
in the process of restoring the account to its true owner. At this time
the transaction in question should be considered null and void.
Let me suggest a few ways this could have occurred.
If the user had a relatively simple password or password hint question
it is possible that a third party was able to gain access to the account
by guessing the password.
It is also possible that the user could have unknowingly provided his or
her password to another party. Some eBay members have reported receiving
messages asking for User IDs and passwords. These messages appear to
come from eBay Support, but in fact are not. eBay will never ask for
sensitive information of this nature through email.
Finally, there are a number of computer viruses in circulation that log
and record keystrokes. It's recommended that computer users keep their
virus alert software up-to-date, and check their system often for
problems. A firewall for high-speed Internet users is also highly
recommended.
Please be aware that eBay urges caution when purchasing high-priced
items, especially if the price seems too good to be true.
We do not recommend the use of instant cash wire transfer services such
as Western Union and MoneyGram, and we ask that users decline sending
payment in cases where these are the only methods of payment offered by
the seller. Generally, if payment is sent using an instant cash wire
transfer service and the item is not delivered as promised, no recourse
is available for recovering funds. In most cases, a verified escrow
service should be used when purchasing high dollar value items. More
information on the benefits and risks of individual payment methods can
be found at:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/payment.html
Please be assured that we will be happy to investigate this issue and
take appropriate action if necessary. If you have additional questions
please click on the "help" link at the top of most eBay pages or contact
us at the following eBay page:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_inline/index.html
This Webform is the easiest way to contact us and ensures a more timely
response to your question or request.
Beware! Protect yourself from fraudulent emails that ask for sensitive
personal information like credit card numbers, passwords, etc. Just
because an email message looks like it is sent directly from eBay, it
isn't always. To learn more about protecting yourself from fake or
"spoof" emails, visit our User Account Protection page. Simply cut and
paste this Web address into your browser window: http://member.ebay.com/ad/ck/1065-11789-3840-13

Is eBay going to have to start putting Segways on the same list as russian nuclear submarines, organs, children, and weapons of mass destruction as an auction-blacklist? This is insane. Glad to see everybody always pitching in to bring these folks down quickly and with minimal damage to eBay clients.
Good work, Matt!
hey, whatever happened to cyberclone's issue?

If he's on a stakeout, it had better be with the Phoenix SEG and a few large, heavy, blunt objects - like batteries.
If anybody finds a perp living in SoFla, get in touch with some of the owners who are fairly active down here - we shall avenge you! Or at least find him and turn him in to the proper authorities : P

Hmm, it's gone -as are the other two or three I bid on ;) and later won.
I'd really like to find a bargain on ebay, but it appears they're all scams.
The first HT I had "won" last week was wiped from ebay in a few hours.
But, the seller came back today with another HT auction, with a BIN feature.
That fellow "chillin" must not have liked my electing buy-it-now for his auction ...
Having a throwaway buyer ID is useful for scam auctions when the seller retaliates -albeit with a poor grasp of engrish.

Now, if I could only find a legit auction in the $3500. area.

It appears that a perfect Segway item to sell on eBay would be a document explaining how most of the eBay Segway HT sales are scams. It could instruct the buyers what they must insist on for a real sale to take place.
The best part, the document could be in the explanation of the item. The article would need to be called a Segway HT somewhere in the description so it would appear when buyers are searching for a Segway HT. Key words such as scooter, fred, ginger, or balance would help the search.
After reading various posts on several threads, the reality of non-protection for credit card buyers is shocking.

Guys -
I thinketh perhaps you all care too much about the Ebay scams. Ebay has people scamming on every large ticket item. Plasma TV's, cars, and any other item worth more than a grand or so has at least a few people trying to scam. No-one cares specifically about the Segway - it's just another item where scammers can get thousands of dollars in one shot.
Sorry if this offends anyone, but this is Darwinism at it's best - if anyone out there is silly enough to send a wire transfer, money order, or other similar type of payment based only on trust, they probably deserve to get ripped off.

This makes me wonder whatever happened to the two Segs stolen from the rental outfit in Miami? Have they showed up anywhere ??

I am still here, been doing Real Estate since being scammed on ebay. On the advice of my Attorney I have moved on. The boy who scammed me does not exist and the girl who got the mail box and cell phone does not exist and the address that they used is a vacant lot in Phoenix. I have been in contact with several people who also got scammed. One car dealer has sold and bought several $100,000 plus cars on ebay and this was also his first scam. These kids are what my attorney call judgment proof. Even if I were to find a real person behind all of this scam, I could never collect as young people like this never acquire anything of value. They spend it faster than any adult could imagine. It is better if I keep doing real estate and let my tax dollars pay for the hard working FBI, Postal Inspectors, AZ Attorney General and other law enforcement agencies. Never have heard back from any of them.
Ebay is the way! Find me on Ebay as cyberclone69. Thanks!!

Sorry to hear about your loss. One thing I don't understand though.
If these kids do not exist, how can they spend money so fast?

Hey folks!
Am finally home again after Manchester, NH, New York City twice (sorry fellow SCers up there , I just didn't have time to stop, would have loved to have met you guys and let you try my M model in Central Park - next trip I'll make a point to schedule some time!) I got home and had several fellow SCers who had mailed me about my pics being used by an E-bay scammer --- Yes they were my pics - No I'm not selling any of my street Segs only my M models which I now have "official" permision from LLC to convert and sell (will be the I models). --- Oh by the way, do you guys know that LLC now sells the E model cargo rack and bags to be installed on any I model out there? Its official! (I've bought 2 of them already-without the bags - about $160 apeice with all the hardware)- I haven't had a chance to check the website to see if thats updated yet.
Of course anything we post or host on the internet can be used over again by anyone who wants to use the pics for whatever reason - kind of a off-handed compliment to be used like that by the Ebay scammer!
As I regroup this week I'll write you and tell you all about my new Segway company and whats going on. I now am "privy" to the "Official Segway LLC Secrets Act" and can only talk about my end of what we are doing and will certainly not jeaprodize my new relationship EVER! So please don't bother asking for more than I can give out.
Later Friends!

Hi Zorba9
I'm one of the (many?) people who emailed you...
I was sure it couldn't be you selling, I checked, and the the seller (who'd obviously had his or her account hijacked) had previously been trading those Anne Geddes photo prints, you know, cutesy snaps of babies wrapped in cabbage leaves and so on... Just didn't seem to match the profile of the designer of the mighty M series :)
Cheers from Down Under
Ron
There are a little over six thousand Segway owners!
There are a little over six billion people in the world!
I'm one in a million! :)

TivoAussie- Hey G'day mate! Appreciate the heads up you sent me- want to be one of my Beta testers for my new spiked wheels? You pay the shipping, if they don;t work for you send them back! They shouldn't be any problems with customs I would think. E-mail me thru SC here(and any one else who wants to apply for my Beta testing) I have 12 pair I am willing to send out there.
Have some "shrimp on the barbie" for me!
