I do not yet own a Segway but intend to purchase an i series in the Spring. I read a lot of messages here about people being disappointed with their 12.0 upgrade. I don't expect to have any choice in the matter when I finally get the HT but I would like to know exactly what the problems are.

Are the problems/differences in range? speed? acceleration? turning? shut down? charging? hills? fun?

I'm just curious about what the specific complaints are.

Not ever having ridden one I guess I won't miss whatever was good about 10.0 or 11.0.

Thanks for any input you might have.

I am sure others will have much more comprehensive comments, but in a nutshell, 12.0 is much much more conservative on battery power. It's "self-diagnostics" routines in theory monitor battery power and alter your riding style to compensate for temperature, and other factors. Like having the rider begina glide slower in colder weather until the batteries warm up, giving the flat face when the computers want the rider to ease up, and then happy face... All in all, I think 12.0 is a good thing, in fact it has altered my riding style in such a way that I am having increased range. And I'm not as aggressive as I used to be.

i think that if you watch your power carefully, there are no huge benefits to getting the 12.0
