"Hitting an obstacle causes you to lean back quickly, which brings the Segway to an instant standstill. And with a limited top speed, you’d have to be pretty unlucky to injure anyone in an accident."
Well, these enthuriastic writers "got it" about the Segway... Why is it so hard for others?

It's hard for others because they don't want to get it, and if they did it would ruin thier pre-concieved notions.

Seems that guy wasn't a very good rider. The learning curve is different for everyone. Notice something though... he admitted he really didn't know what he was doing, and still, he and the HT came back w/o a scratch. His "instructor" couldn’t have really have known too much either. You don't send someone out on their own unless their comfortable. I remember at my training, I brought along a friend of mine. The people at Segway never left her side until she told them she could do it w/o assistance. The LLC employees did a great job... these rental places should learn from them.
