For anyone importing a Segway into Australia... good luck!
Do not, whatever you do, mention the tariff concession number 9106418 to Customs. My hope of using this tariff concession was to not pay duty (fair enough, there is no local industry).
However, quoting this number makes Customs then believe that you have a "vehicle", and you first need Department of Transport approval.
Believe me, this is not something you want.
I have been told by the Customs broker, that because I originally quoted this number, I cannot now "unquote" it. So even though I am happy to pay the 5% duty, they now will not release it unless I get the Department of Transport approval.
So at the moment, although I am the proud owner of a p series that is only 20 kilometres away, it might as well be on the moon.
Ronny :(:(

Who said that you shouldn't get carried away on your Segway?
