Hi!

I am a grad student, trying to develop an advertising campaign for Segway, I need some feedback/quotes on owning one.

Here is a list of questions I have in mind, kindly either reply to them here or send your answers to [u]husseinims@vcu.edu</u>

1. Why did you buy a Segway? if you havn't bought one yet, why would you consider buying one?

2. When do you usually use it?

3. How do you feel now that you own one?

4. How do you see it playing a role in the future of transporting individuals?

5. What would you tell another person to encourage him/her to buy it?

6. Is there anything about Segway that you don't like?

Thank you in advance! I really appreciate it

Finally, if you live in Richmond and own a segway or you know someone who owns one, could you express whether it would be ok to try it out?

Thanks again!

Mirabelle, you can also check the search feature for Virginia owners. I didn't see any in Richmond, but maybe one of the cities is close enough that it would be worth a trip for a demo.

1. I bought my Segway because the technology was exciting and I wanted to support it! I actually have 2, one of each model.
2. I work and teach at a local community college. I use mine daily to go to work, plus on trips to the library, bank, quick trips to the store, etc. It has not replaced walking, it has replaced short car trips. It feels good (to me) to be supportive of the environment. I have the smaller model to use for trips.
3. I've had mine for 11 months and still love it.
4. I personally think that it has a definite role in transportation. I can see a change in infrastructure in the future, but I think it will be slow. One of the most interesting things that I've seen happening is the reintegration of people with certain disabilities back into the mainstream via the Segway. I'm not stating that the "mainstream" is better, but there's just so much more of it. The HT allows the people who can benefit from its use mobility without the stigma of a wheelchair.
5. Try it! Until you've tried it, you can't understand what the excitement is about.
6. Yes, I wish the batteries had greater range! &lt;G&gt; They're working on it.
You're welcome.

1. To replace short car trips, to get around campus at UNH quicker, and to have LOTS of fun
2. I use it every day. I use every excuse I can to glide.
3. I love it! One of the best purchaces I've ever made.
4. I think it could greatly benefit some people. Others may have absolutely no use for it. I think its use in cities could greatly help to lower the cities' traffic problems.
5. Just try riding one.
6. Although for their size & weight, the battery life is impressive, I wish the batteries had a longer life per charge. 10 miles goes by quicker than you'd think.

1. I was amazed by the Segway HT's application of technology and safety to create a new device and mode of transportation that did not exist before. I wanted to be part of this new and exciting technology.

2. I commute to work almost every day. It is 6.2-6.9 miles each way, depending on my route. So, with lunchtime errands, I am putting about 18 miles per day on my Segway i167.

3. Fantastic!! I love riding it and have saved my 11 year old car from 1,060.7 miles (as of this morning) of short trips. I have saved on gas and reduced pollution. And most of all, I have a much more fun commute on the Segway.

4. I truely believe that the Segway device and the Segway concept will catch on. I am sure that there will be many different versions and styles and that there will be improvements in the technology and features as time goes by. This is going to be very interesting to watch happen and be a part of.

5. The Segway is fun and safe and can change the way you think about short car trips and possibly your commute to work.

6. It is expensive. But that is the way with all new technology. The first people to adopt it always pay a premium price.

Heres your campaign ~~~ buy one, ride one, fall off one, get back on one, convince your grandma to ride it and then take all that info and present it to your teacher. Easy A. You'll reach 50 people in the room who will reach another 50 each by word of mouth. (kinda like a swave commercial) It sells it self end of story. The key to advertising is having one ale pay for advertizing and yes that is atinable. Have fun in school hope you learn something.

Hi Mirabelle,

1. I bought the Segway because I've been fascinated by the technology and its possibilities ever since the first tidbits were revealed.

2. I use it almost exclusively to commute 5 miles each way to work every day. We're a 1 Segway family, so on weekends, I get back on my bike, although I will run to Fedex or the Post Office to pick up packages late at night.

3. I feel great - never better. Proud to be one of the early adopters.

4. I think that it is not in its final form - that the 'p' model will fit in better than the 'i', although both have their pluses and minuses - that it will continue to evolve and find its 'niche' for some time to come. HOWEVER, the basic technology is amazing, and will probably not need to change - and for the mobility-challenged and the great slug of Baby Boomers heading for arthritis and the like, it will be 'The Answer'.

5. I would encourage anyone to try it. It's clearly not for everyone, but perfect for some. Each person should use one for a couple of weeks and evaluate given their particular set of circumstances.

6. Like everyone else - I wish it weighed less and went farther. I suppose it should have a light. Otherwise - I love it just as it is.

Good luck with your study.

Rgds,
Mac
