I am a member of the BMW Car Club of America my last car was a 320is.
In this months Roudel, the clubs magazine, there is an article about the Bertone Birusa the first vehicle equipped with its own HT.
It looks like a P model but has GPS navigation,Bose sound system, lights, differant fenders and bumper. It has all the goodies that I wish were on my machine.
It looks likes the second generaton of Segway!!!

dear god! how ugly! why did LLC allow that car manufacturer to dress up the HT like that?! and whats with the plastic rain suit that lady is wearing? Is this something that segway owners actually want people seeing? is this such good PR for LLC?

ok, I take some of it back. while I still think that those pictures are pug-ugly. (What IS with that plastic suit?!) the car looks ot be a pretty cool machine, and the HT is definitly a step above the normal model, albeit with an ugly shell. here is a quote from that page.
quote:it is the first time that a Segway has been presented together with a vehicle, but more important still, it is the first time that one has been "dressed" by a coachbuilder, to match the car's styling, covered with soft foam and upholstered in Alcantara like the car's interior, specifically to make the car more road-friendly in pedestrian areas. The Segway is also fitted with lights, a navigation unit and display and a Bose stereo system.

Personal opinion but I like the plastic suit... its the black undergarment that needs to go. Oh and by the way I'd be glad to have the car also, if the price was right.

Bertone, a great design house, founded by Nuccio Bertone, has some of the most recognizable exotic cars in their resume, the precurser to the Countach, Many designs for Maserati and Alfa Romeo. I had seen the Bertone "Segway" Car in Automobile magazine, where there were a few more pictures showing the rear tailgate lowering to reveal an easy way to stash the segway. I have to admit that the segway styling is atrocious! Stick to cars, and leave Segway to the designers in NH.

P.S. I'd like to echo MagiMike's sentiments, lets see the next photoshoot sans car, sans segway, sans black undergarment, what the heck, sans plastic rain suit, and a little close up wouldn't hurt! *apologies to any offended, but boys will be boys!*

My first car was a 1974 Fiat X/19, another Bertone design. VERY ahead of it's time, albeit a very unreliable car.

Fiat: "Fix It Again Tony"

I particularly like Bertone's concept cars like the Athon, and others of that era. They have shaped what the current sports cars look like.

Im just about done with "code name ginger" and in it they talk about an oval like dash that was in the D2 and D3 concepts of ginger. Im almost sure that that was what a 'flywheel' or ginger, was looking like at one point.

That car design and Segway came out a while ago...when I was at the car show here in chicago last year it was there!

It does look a little strange though!

Another site shows more pix. Interesting that the rear end hinges at the bottom and the Seg uses Power Assist to go up the built in ramp and stores inside without disassembling. Neato. One of a kind and not for sale!!
