I thought I would rekindle the insurance discussion in a separate thread to see if there is any new information out there.

From the "Car Dealers and Segways" thread ...

Progressive has a web site progressive.com that will give you a quote and agent contact info based on your location, age, driving record etc, all online, no obligation. Under the insurance type just scroll down to segway HT.

I thought I remembered reading on another insurance thread previously that local agents might often have much better deals. Any comments?

Anyone else have Segway insurance stories/information? PLEASE share ...

And by the way, last year two million exciting technical jobs went unfilled in this country because you weren't there to take that job. And it pays you 10 times as much as flipping burgers, and it's fun and it's exciting and you get to create things and build things and help make the world a better place and help make yourself a better living.’ Who tells them this?”

I am in the process of getting a quote from my local State Farm agency. It sounds like they will insure a Segway so long as it is in a jurisdiction where it's not required to be licensed (which is the case here in Washington state). In that case, they insure it as a recreational vehicle based on MSRP and horsepower. I will post more when I learn more.

I used Progressive's online quote and was quoted $204 for the basic 15/30/10 liability package. I called a local agent and got the same coverage, plus a small medical payment for $75.
