I am new to this chat site and I am not sure if this topic has been discussed already. I broke the kickstands on both of my Segways within one or two months of owning them. Just a good bang on a hard surface will do it. Am I extremely destructive or have others experienced this problem? Segwqay says they are made to break on purpose so you don't hurt your machine. Anyway, we glue welded the bracket back together as a temporary solution. Just yesterday, i got the replacement kickstands in the mail. Segway said they would give me the first one for each Seg for free. After that I will have to buy them. Hopefully, I will treat the new ones more gently.

Most folks have this problem, though some of us managed to keep ours intact for over half a year. There's a wealth of information in this forum. Enjoy reading the history and exploring the Search capability.

Welcome.

Wow -

I'm still on my first kickstand going all the way back to February. Perhaps I will get a trophy if I can get to my one-year anniversary with it intact? And that's with over 1,000 miles of use and at least 20 OMG-I-BET-I-BROKE-IT types of incidents in-between but it's still hanging in there.

I even had one of those kickstand situations that we all shudder about and survived it. You know...where you have your Segway powered down, parked, and leaning against something nearby with the kickstand down, and some yahoo (no offense to Yahoo(tm)) decides to step onto the platform at which case you want to scream in horror, but of course, you are TOO LATE!

P.S. I'm sure I'm doomed now for having posted this message. =)

Still on my first kickstand, and over 1000 miles under my belt.

Mine has over 800 miles, and the kickstand - used everywhere - is still kick'n. Watch out for those yahoos.

Well, it's been 4 months, and riding just about every day, and same old kickstand. *knock on wood*

Intact after 7 months, but I use the kickstand sparingly.

A small block of wood works well. I have my Segways on display and recommend this method.
I also made a LOOK-DONT TOUCH, sign with elastic straps. Clips between the fenders and blocks anyone from stepping on.

I pulled mine out while in power assit mode. A little whitle and back it was. 400 miles and counting. dont go backwards with a loose kick stand.
