Just noted on an EBay auction (item 3635194271) that the unit is described as having "Upgraded kick stand (more durable and holds the unit in a position that doesn't look like its in balance mode!)"

Since the seller is located in Manchester, NH, he may be associated with LLC. Anyone know if this upgraded kickstand is now available or if this may be some sort of prototype?

Guess if no one knows, I'll try and contact the seller for more info, but most LLC employees are reluctant to discuss anything new.

This seems to be the same kickstand that has been shipped with units since the beginning of the year (2003). The earlier model kept the base level, whereas the model shipped puts the base at a noticeable angle, which also causes the HT to back up if put into balance mode (without stepping on it).

Deviant, is it actually possible to put it into balance mode at that angle? I have one of the newer models, and I have tried, but can't put it into balance mode. I think that was one of the safety features of the new angled base with the kickstand redesign.

TRUE ... with the longer kickstand deployed causing the platform to lean "back" you CANNOT put the HT into balance mode [/:)].

My experience with one backing up was at NH training in January. Maybe that training HT had the shorter stand. I haven't tried it on mine (stand recently broken by unseen stranger, not yet replaced), but will accept your experience.
