We are a new team in the FIRST competition and while searching for information I came across a listing of the tools needed for creating the robots. Does anyone have a list that they might be willing to let us use? This list may have came from a manual from another team or something. It is frustrating because I forgot to save the location and it even had a list of items for a first aid kit. Help us if you can. Thanks!

WELCOME to FIRST ... and hold on to your hat. You are in for a wonderful wild ride!! Where are you located? Do you know which competition(s) you will be attending??

There is a list similar to what you describe in the Administration section of the 2002 FIRST Robotics Competition Manual. It is fairly comprehensive, and includes a first-aid section. However it is not all inclusive (a great starting point). Email me and I will be glad to send you a copy (It is a 94kb pdf file).

“Who goes out and says, ‘You have a better probability of winning the state lottery than making a nickel in professional sports. And by the way, last year two million exciting technical jobs went unfilled in this country because you weren't there to take that job. And it pays you 10 times as much as flipping burgers, and it's fun and it's exciting and you get to create things and build things and help make the world a better place and help make yourself a better living.’ Who tells them this?”

We are from Lexington, South Carolina and have a local event here in Columbia called the Palmetto Regional that we will be attending. We have also applied for the NASA sponsorship but waited to sign up for one of their regionals for fear of not being able to pay for the trip. After submission of our application we tried to register but all the close ones are closed now. The closest we could get is in Oregon, just under 2,400 miles away. Wow, what a trip! We never could find where you could back out if you did not get the sponsorship. I would appreciate any list you could give us so I will contact you. Thanks for replying so fast.
