According to Groovy, everyone's favorite prognosticator and double-talker from TIQ, this site (which he/she has never visited) may be sounding the death knell for the Segway:
"I do find it a bit ironic that SegChat which serves as a gathering and a sort of fan club for segway could also be the downfall of it. By having a gathering place like that, people can group their knowledge about safety issues and can lead to recalls like this which may not have occured in other products that do not have such a resource."
Just thought you all might enjoy a chuckle.. Of course, you're free to tell groovy what you think about this.. <g>

99% of the people here don't even know what a "groovy" is, let alone care what it thinks :-)
IMO, there are far more enlightening posts about the Segway HT on slashdot.org/.

First muckle, I don't believe groovy for a split second when he/she says he/she has not read SegwayChat. He is simply too big a control freak to not keep track of all that might affect him in any way.
Secondly, we both know his primary goal in life is to stir the pot for self gratification by always putting the worst spin he can on anything having to do with Segway.
I guess I better let this go now, as it isn't actually Segway related.

I think we can generally do ourselves a favor by leaving what's said at TIQ right where it lies. I see no reason to bring it over here, or even call attention to it.

It is important that we have a community, a place where we can come together to share our expierences and problems.
There are almost daily recalls on commerical aircraft and most automobiles, some are not voluntary, yet we don't hear about them.
To many a Segway is like magic and people seem to over react, mostly positive but not always. Many do not like what they do not understand.
In my past 7 months of ownership 95% of the reaction from strangers has been positive.

I was popping around the internet using my web ferret and visiting the AOL/and major news links chat rooms and postings. It seems that there are at least 250 sites that took stabs at Segway 80% of the time during the recall hoopla over the weekend. Why were the percentages so high? Because all the good stuff, and the minimal potential bad stuff is posted here. The rest of the Segway community was out in the community doing damage control. We are the real mainstream and the voice of evolutionary transportation. If it’s been said its here and if it isn’t worth talking about its on one of those "I got nothing better to do but hack on everything that I don’t like." sites. Kooks will be Kooks, no matter what name they claim. As the saying goes (with a little spin), You'll never know untill you glide a mile in my shoes.

what is TIQ?
TIQ is another forum. It was the original site devoted to finding out what It/Ginger was in 2001. It/Ginger of course turned out to be Segway, and that mystery was solved in mid 2001 and announced to the world on Dec 3, 2001.
It WAS a great forum, but has been reduced to a worthless mess by the few stragglers left there. The rest of the story is that "groovy" was/is the most prolific poster of all who participated on TIQ. He now has about 12000 almost exclusively anti-It/Ginger/Segway posts to his name on TIQ.
His inane posting was one major reason for the beginning of SegwayChat. At least something good occurred because of him.

That's the truth, told by one of the true "Founders" of this Web site.
