FIRST Robotics 2003

Saturday, September 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
As any parent can tell you, today's kids are scarily adept with computers. Now watch America's brightest high school science students achieve incredible breakthroughs, set the groundwork for brilliant careers, and make extremely cool robots.

They're part of the FIRST Robotics Competition, in which more than 20,000 high school students from across the country compete to reach new breakthroughs in robotics. The contest gets its name from "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology" (FIRST), an organization founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen.

Follow three diverse teams in this Science Channel original special feel the heat of competition, marvel at the teenagers' ingenuity, and connect with the emotion of the experience.

Anyone catch this program? I don't have the Science Channel, or most of the other channels that Discovery makes available. Sounded like a nice piece.

Shouldn't this thread be in the FIRST forum, and not the Segway forum?

Well until this gets moved I'll post here ...
Unfortunately I do not have the Science channel in my satellite subscription. I did note on the website that they would be re-playing it a few times this week (9/17-18). I would be very grateful if someone could record the program for me (digital would be even better). I would be happy to replace/pay for any media used.

AND NOW A SEGWAY OWNER ! :D
“Who goes out and says, ‘You have a better probability of winning the state lottery than making a nickel in professional sports. And by the way, last year two million exciting technical jobs went unfilled in this country because you weren't there to take that job. And it pays you 10 times as much as flipping burgers, and it's fun and it's exciting and you get to create things and build things and help make the world a better place and help make yourself a better living.’ Who tells them this?”
