View Full Version : 2 Questions: software updates and HT euro decals

How does one determine what level of software they have on their HT? Is there a posting of the benefits associated with any upgrades? How is the device updated?

Also, I can't seem to find the site where I saw the euro style oval white and black decals with HT as the "country". Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance (for more than two questions) 2

Thank you X-Man, that is exactly what I was looking for. Now if someone will provide the info on the software...

The new machines are now shipping with 11.0. If you put your machine in power assist, and it moves at a "comfortable walking speed" - i.e., not really a fast walk, you have 11.0. There are other things - such as, if you take one foot all the way off the footpad when you're going at speed, does the machine slow down (need 3 sensors pressed for top speed, otherwise it slows down). The device is updated via the computer cords in the control shaft, I believe. (I didn't watch my upgrade as it happened.) I think we have some posts on 11.0 - you might do a search on 11.0 or look through the original SegFest thread.

The main field test for determining if you have the newer version 11 is to walk your machine while in balance mode. When it starts to complain (electronic leash), stop until complaints cease, then resume walking forward. If your HT can do this, then you have v11.

I imagine anyone can get the firmware upgrade, but probably for a fee. Call Segway and ask, then post to tell us all.

I don't have 11.0, and from all the posts can't really imagine why I would want it....

If you ever need to walk your seg in balance mode for more than 3 feet you will see the value in 11.0.

The reduced top speed in power assist was not an issue, I have never needed to jog behind my HT while in power assist mode, or any other mode for that matter. :D

There is just as much "power" in power assist mode with v 11.0 as there was in v 10.0, the wheels just won't spin as fast.

I am loving the 11.0 more each day because of the curbs. Pulling the HT up the curb is better than ever. It was my number one problem with 10.0. I had to be so careful to stop it close to the curb. Any farther and the stick would shake. Now I can get it further from the curb and safely step on without pressing the mode button.

It does a better job of going up those curbs in balance mode too. The slower power assist speed was a surprise at first, but I am enjoying the new speed.

Lifting a foot to reposition has not been a problem. I have to lift a foot and the other heal before the HT slows down. Lighter weight riders can position their foot at a slight angle if they need to depress three sensors during a foot lift.

The wonderful thing with the 11.0 behavior is that you can also approach a curb at an angle, step off, lift the HT, turn the HT, step on, and resume. The extra "distance" from the new behavior makes it *much* easier to do this. With the older firmware, there was a pretty good chance I'll pop into power-assist if I tried to do the same.
