i'd pass:

1) seller has a "0" rating;

2) if the deal goes "sour,"
would you want to try getting
your money back in canada?; and

3) seller doesn't divulge _how_
the seg was obtained, nor is it
defined as to _why_ it's being
sold.

ymmv.

kthxbye.

Hard to say, particularly given it's a new member to Ebay....

Probably not!

He has no feedback rating. He is using a stock picture, not a picture of the actual item for sale. And he is located in British Columbia, a far way to go, to try and get your money back.

One thing you can try though, ask him if he will send the item to an escrow service of your choice. This may show whether he is legit or not.

Best to avoid ebay sellers with no history of sales on ebay. It is one thing to be the first customer of an ebay seller who is selling a $5 item. But too risky being the first customer of an ebay seller selling a $5000 item.

I got mine on eBay and have been very happy with it so far.

I'd email the seller and see what you think after talking to them. It's a very good deal for an e-series. Ask the questions mentioned here (Are they willing to use an escrow service? Why are they selling it? Is it brand new? If not, what's the condition?) Lots of people who sell "high ticket" items on eBay have little or no feedback. This is generally because it's a one time thing for them. I do urge extreme caution. If you get a strange feeling from them or they aren't willing to go through an escrow service (and absorb the cost) then I'd skip it. Another thing to note is that Segway's warranty is voided when you buy it from a 3rd party like that.

The best way to resolve this is to contact the seller and ask for the serial number (off the back of the machine). Send that to either Segway or one of the Segway Dealers (like NEVrland or Relay) and ask them to verify that the machine was sold to that buyer. If the seller is unwilling to provide the serial number than you know the deal is not on the level.

He said that he will do an escrow. I put my bid in.

Ebay is the way! Find me on Ebay as cyberclone69. Thanks!!

Escrow, go for it..

If someone has an e' and wants to sell (maybe to get an I - I like the I's better) and just signed up to eBay for the first time.. Who knows...

See if u can contact, see why selling, brand new as in 'not used?' what not and what stuf.

Please note that the free shipping is ONLY for Canada. Find out what the seller will charge for delivery to the USA ...

I bought mine on eBay and I am listed with LLC as the current owner. The warranty is a joke since it is for such a short period of time. The unit seems like it can take a beating.

It would be good to have someone check it out. Agreed?

If they'll use an escrow service (make sure it's legit - escrow.com is best known) they're probably ok. If something falls through at the last minute, either the escrow company won't do it or the buyer decides that they don't want to use it - pull out. You may get some bad feedback (which you can respond to) but you'll save your money.

Stuart - this was one of the ebay threads from a month ago,
where the sale appeared to be dubious. It did close at a fairly high price, and there is still no feedback. But this seems to be different from the "dontines" seller we were just discussing in the other thread. It seems that quite a few, but maybe not all, Segway ebay sales are OK.
